Abrams, when she was named the first female deputy commanding general of FORSCOM in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the U.S. Army reported.Now, Richardson will become the first female commanding general of the U.S. Army FORSCOM as Abrams steps down from his post, reported CNN affiliate WTVD.On Tuesday, Abrams announced he would be leaving his post to become commander of United States Armed Forces Korea. MILLCREEK CANYON, Utah - While fire crews were battling the "Crestwood Fire" Saturday near the base of Millcreek Canyon, homeowners and visitors in the canyon were busy packing and evacuating.During all of the commotion, Riley Burrows and Kaitlin Larsen had just tied the knot and were meeting with their guests.“We actually had a family friend come through the receiving line and told us that [the fire] had just started,” Larsen told FOX 13. “An officer then came up the line and told us we had about an hour before we had to leave. So everyone went crazy and started taking down all the decor… started getting us out of there as fast as we could.”While some may be angry their wedding and reception was interrupted by a fire, the couple laughed, reminisced and were in good spirits about it while recounting their story.“Our wedding worked out really well. We’re not disappointed that the fire happened — it was honestly quite the adventure,” Burrows said. Chiming in, Larsen added, “We now have a cool story: We were dealing with COVID, and now we can tell about a fire... Not everyone gets to say that!”The pair was married in front of a pond, which was then turned into a resource for helicopter crews battling the fire from the air — but it made for some good pictures as well.“They had two helicopters every five minutes coming in, coming down, getting water and taking off,” the pair said. “It was so cool. We all went out there and we had our photographer take a picture with us and it dropping right behind us, because it was like, 'We have to get this!'”Even first responders came to honor the newlyweds.“They came up and talked to us and gave us a little challenge coin and a hat and said they were so sorry," Larsen said. "Like, 'It’s not your fault! We appreciate what you’re doing to make it so we could finish as much as we could.'”The two have been through a lot to get married like a lot of other couples during the pandemic, but despite the difficulties and the addition of the fire, they were happy for the story that they could tell. They also had a message to others in similar positions.“Just stay hopeful. Regardless, you’re going to get married," they said. "Even if it’s just with close family and friends, you’re still getting married and that’s what matters.”The pair overall wanted to thank all of their guests for making the day so special and for being with them on their special day, despite the difficulties of the pandemic and the fire breaking out.The blaze was 90 percent contained as of Sunday evening. MEXICO CITY (AP) — About 100 Mexican soldiers and immigration agents raided a freight train in southern Mexico on Thursday and detained dozens of Central American migrants riding atop the cars.Such raids had been rare since the last crackdown on migrants in 2014. But under increasing U.S. pressure to reduce the flow of hundreds of thousands of Central Americans through Mexican territory, Mexico's government has stepped up enforcement.At least some of the troops wore armbands of Mexico's newly formed National Guard. The government says it has deployed thousands of Guard agents across the country with supporting immigration enforcement.In a scene filmed by Associated Press journalists, the train rolled to a stop in a rural area, and then soldiers climbed ladders to the top of freight cars shouting, "This is the army, you're surrounded!"Throngs of migrants sought to flee by running along the tops of freight cars, while others clambered down to the ground and headed into the brush.One soldier was seen wrestling a young, flailing man into a waiting immigration van by the neck. Agents filled three such vehicles with migrants, but hundreds more were apparently able to escape.The train may have been carrying as many as 400 migrants, and Mexico's Immigration Institute said it detained 40.The most recent such raid occurred May 1 in the state of Oaxaca. Central Americans have been riding freight trains, collectively known as "La Bestia," or The Beast, for years.Previous raids have served to temporarily discourage migrants from hopping aboard the trains, which is technically prohibited but has long been tolerated.Also Thursday, a joint statement from several federal agencies said 134 migrants were rescued from a crowded tractor-trailer abandoned along a highway in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz.Soldiers and federal police discovered the trailer as people were trying to break the locks from inside to get out, it said. Some were found to be in a state of dehydration and had minor injuries.The Immigration Institute determined that 71 of the migrants were minors. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says the dozens of protesters seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state who showed up outside her home on Saturday "crossed a line" and added that they are seeking "to undermine and silence the will and voices of every voter" in her state.On Saturday, dozens of demonstrators gathered outside of Benson's home and went live on Facebook with many yelling "stop the steal" and urging her to come outside.Benson said she and her 4-year-old son were finishing up Christmas decorating and about to watch a movie when the protests started."Your neighbors will not get no sleep — you need to come out now!" one of the protesters yelled.Lt. Mike Shaw from Michigan State Police said he believes some of the protesters were openly carrying guns.The state of Michigan certified its election results on Nov. 23. However, President Donald Trump's legal team continues to dispute the results on the basis of widespread voter fraud.
