(KGTV) - Authorities from jurisdictions across California gathered in Sacramento to announce the arrest of a suspect in the decades-long East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer case.Joseph James DeAngelo, 72, was arrested Wednesday in connection with a series of killings, rapes and burglaries that occurred around the state in the 1970s and ‘80s.Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, flanked by district attorneys from several other California counties, said of the new development in the case, “The answer has always been in Sacramento. We found the needle in the haystack, and it was right here in Sacramento.”Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones told reporters that DeAngelo was taken into custody at his home in Citrus Heights, a city several miles outside of Sacramento. His arrest was the result of an executed search warrant out of Ventura County.Jones said detectives’ hard work and the use of DNA technology “led us to the right road” in identifying DeAngelo as a suspect and his arrest. 1022

(KGTV) — Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, said a new ad featuring him on behalf of President Trump's coronavirus response was taken out of context.Fauci told CNN in a statement that the ad, which features a clip of Fauci, took his words out of context for the benefit of President Trump. Fauci said he didn't consent to be featured in the ad and that he doesn't provide any political endorsements.In the ad, the clip shows Fauci during an interview saying, "I can't imagine that anybody could be doing more.""In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate. The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials," Fauci said.According to CNN, Fauci's comments were from a March interview with Fox News, in which he comments on the White House's coronavirus task force for its round-the-clock effort to respond to the pandemic.For context, Fauci's quote described the task force's work as: "We've never had a threat like this. (CNN) -- It was an impressive disguise: the snow-white beard, the oversized glasses, the wheelchair.But it was when the seemingly frail and elderly passenger reached security at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport -- India's busiest airport -- that he caught the attention of staff.At around 10.45 p.m. on the evening of September 8, the individual was hoping to get on an overnight flight to New York."He posed as if he was very old and incapacitated," Shrikant Kishore, a senior official with the Central Industrial Security Force, told CNN.Dressed in a white tunic and trousers, with a white turban and black slippers, the passenger proved reluctant to be frisked."Our screener asked the person in the wheelchair to stand. He said that he cannot stand. Our screener asked if he would stand with support. He reluctantly stood up."That's when the officer noticed that while the passenger's beard and hair were white, the roots were black. He also was working hard to avoid the officer's eyes.When asked for his passport, the individual handed over documentation claiming that he was Amrick Singh, born in Delhi in February 1938, making him 81 years old."He was definitely not 80 years old.
