SHANGHAI, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The enrollment of supporting activities for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) was launched Friday, the CIIE bureau said.

Xi urged the two sides to continue staunchly supporting each other on issues concerning their respective core interests. He said Tajikistan has always actively supported and participated in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and the two countries' cooperation within this framework is fruitful.

On behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, expressed a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to the representatives and extended greetings to overseas Chinese around the world.

Xi wrapped up a three-day visit to Russia on Friday, during which he also attended the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). It is his eighth visit to Russia since 2013 when he was elected Chinese president, which came as the two countries are embracing the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, expressed appreciation for the results of the research conducted by relevant groups.
