VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Kellen Winslow Jr. affirmed his innocence to 10News Thursday as he appeared in court to face a third charge of rape.The son of a Chargers legend, Winslow pleaded not guilty to the alleged rape a 17-year old girl in 2003.  10News was able to capture a few words with Winslow as he walked to his car in the parking lot outside court. When reporter Jim Patton asked about the new rape charge, Winslow responded it would all come out in court. Then asked if he was innocent of the other allegations of raping two women in Encinitas, Winslow said, "I'm advised by my lawyer to not speak on much. But yes, I am innocent." The new charge involves a woman who was 17 years old at the time. Winslow was 19. She claims he raped her while she was unconscious. Winslow Jr.'s attorney has previously said their relationship was consensual.  Thursday, the defense repeated a request for the woman's psychological history.Thursday's court hearing lasted no more than 15 minutes as attorneys debated whether this new case should be tried along with the other two rape allegations. Winslow Jr.'s attorneys argued the new charge could prejudice the other two.The judge allowed the cases to remain joined for now for efficiency but said the trial judge would make the ultimate decision.  Winslow is currently free on a million bond, while required to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet. His trial date was set for March 19th, 2019. 1507

WASHINGTON — Congressional leaders appear to be on the brink of a COVID-19 economic aid package, but there's no deal yet. As negotiators went home from the Capitol Wednesday, agreement seemed near on legislation that would extend help to individuals and businesses and ship coronavirus vaccines to millions. Negotiators are working on a 0 billion package that would revive subsidies for businesses hit hard by the pandemic, help distribute new vaccines, fund schools and renew soon-to-expire jobless benefits. They're also looking to include new direct payments of about 0 to most Americans. There's intense pressure for a deal. Unemployment benefits run out Dec. 26 for more than 10 million people. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Jury selection is expected to take all week in the trial of former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II. The San Diego football star and son of Chargers Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Senior pleaded not guilty to charges that he raped two homeless women in Encinitas last year. He's also charged with raping an unconscious seventeen-year-old girl back when Winslow was nineteen. Prosecutors say he was out of custody on million bail in connection with the felony case when he got in trouble again. Prosecutors say he fondled himself in front of a 77- year-old woman at a Carlsbad gym, asked her if she liked it, and groped her while she was in a hot tub at the same gym.Jan Ronis is a San Diego defense attorney not affiliated with the case, but watching it closely. "From what I've seen at the preliminary examination, everyone that testified seemed to have a lot of credibility. These were older women, you would extend the greatest credibility to that kind of witness," said Ronis. Winslow played ten seasons with the NFL. His defense team is reportedly planning to call two psychiatrists to testify. It's unclear if CTE, or Chronic traumatic encephalopathy will play a role in that defense. Ronis says it might not make a difference. "You can still be responsible for your conduct , criminally responsible, after having sustained a traumatic brain injury or something of that nature. It's different than say, your mental health issue was such that rendered you incapable of understanding the nature of your conduct that you couldn't understand the difference between right and wrong, " said Ronis. Walmart is looking to go green by 2040.The world's largest retailer announced they plan to electrify and eliminate emissions from all of its vehicles, including long-haul trucks. They also want to transition to low-impact refrigerants for cooling and powering its equipment to heat its stores, clubs, and data and distribution centers to reach zero emissions."We want to play an important role in transforming the world's supply chains to be regenerative. We face a growing crisis of climate change and nature loss, and we all need to take action with urgency," Doug McMillon, President and CEO of Walmart, said in the release. "For 15 years, we have been partnering to do the work and continually raising our sustainability ambitions across climate action, nature, waste, and people. The commitments we're making today not only aim to decarbonize Walmart's global operations, they also put us on the path to becoming a regenerative company – one that works to restore, renew and replenish in addition to preserving our planet, and encourages others to do the same."
