SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The 92-year-old San Diego man who pleaded guilty to shooting his son in the head as he slept in his father’s Old Town residence was sentenced to three years of probation. Richard Landis Peck pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter early in 2019. Peck had been facing a murder charge in the death of his 51-year-old son Robert. Peck was arrested in mid November of 2018 after going to a neighbor’s house on the 2300 block of Juan Street to tell her he just shot his son. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The first round of artists for San Diego’s Wonderfront music festival, supported by the star power of Tony Hawk, Trevor Hoffman, and Rob Machado, was announced Monday. The event will take place on seven stages in parks and on piers along the Port of San Diego, from South Embarcadero up to Broadway Pier. Wonderfront is scheduled for Nov. 22-24, 2019, the weekend before Thanksgiving. Wonderfront organizers plan to mix well-known stars with local favorites and emerging artists. “Our goal with this lineup was to have it stacked from start to finish each day with great artists. It’s hard to really call any certain bands our so-called headliners as so many lines of bands on this festival are all headliners in their own right,” said Wonderfront co-founder Paul Thornton. The first round of artists, announced Monday, include Miguel, Slightly Stoopid, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, MGMT, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nicky Jam, Don Omar, Vince Staples, Tyga, Los Angeles Azules, Tucanes de Tijuana, Walk the Moon, Phantogram, X Ambassadors, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Lil Dicky, Big Gigantic, and Pennywise. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Target cash registers suffered a nationwide outage Saturday, leaving some customers around the country sitting in line for hours.The company's corporate office said an "internal technology issue" shut down registers for about two hours Saturday, preventing customers from making purchases in store.Target added that the technology issue was not a data breach or security-related issue and that customer data was no compromised. By 2:30 p.m., Target said their systems were back online:"Target’s registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores. The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The man wanted for a shooting outside of an unlicensed marijuana dispensary in unincorporated El Cajon has been arrested.The San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) issued an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Richard Anthony Bell, of El Cajon, on Dec. 8 in connection with the shooting four days earlier in the 1600 block of N. 2nd Street.A 16-year-old was shot outside of the illegal dispensary and taken to a nearby hospital, where the victim remains and is expected to survive. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service located Bell on Friday at about 11 p.m. inside a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He's being held on million bail for attempted murder and awaiting extradition back to San Diego County.The shooting isn't believed to be related to the dispensary and is thought to be gang-related, SDSO said. 841

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The 10-day Sturgis motorcycle rally held in August led to more than 266,000 new coronavirus cases, according to a new study from San Diego State University.The study, released this week, says upwards of 460,000 people converged on Sturgis, a South Dakota city of 7,000, causing a bump in Coronavirus infections across the US. "Large crowds, coupled with minimal mask-wearing and social distancing by attendees, raised concerns that this event could serve as a COVID-19 'super spreader,'" said the study, which did conclude that the rally was a super spreader event.Researchers from San Diego State's Center for Health Economics and Policy Study used anonymized cell phone data to track where attendees came from, then traced it back to their counties. They found that the counties that had the highest numbers of Sturgis attendees saw a 7% to 12% increase in coronavirus cases. The study also said that CDC data shows that cases in Meade County, South Dakota, where the rally is held, increased 6 to 7 cases per 1,000 population a month after the event started.
