What goes well with a hot pepperoni pizza? Pizza Hut is banking on its customers to say, "Cold beer."Pizza Hut announced on Wednesday that beer delivery will be available at 100 of its Arizona and California locations. The company said beer delivery is part of a nationwide pilot program. The beer will be stored in special coolers to keep it cold during delivery. Coors Light, Blue Moon and Miller High Life will be among the offerings. Customers who order a six-pack in some Arizona markets will have their delivery fee waived. "Nothing complements an oven-hot pizza like an ice-cold beer," said Zipporah Allen, CMO, Pizza Hut. "In addition to our extensive delivery network, many Pizza Hut restaurants are already licensed to serve and distribute beer, without third party services, additional fees, or extended wait times. Expanding the pilot program is a natural way for Pizza Hut to get our customers the perfect pizza and beer combo they're craving, delivered right to their doors."  Pizza Hut said it currently offers beer delivery at participating restaurants in Phoenix, Tucson, Glendale, Prescott, and Winslow in Arizona, along with participating restaurants in Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Riverside, Sacramento, Santa Barbara and Santa Clara in California. Pizza Hut will roll out beer delivery soon to additional locations, including Anaheim, Fresno, Huntington Beach and Redding later this month. 1456

With coronavirus cases ramping up in a number of US states, more and more US governors have issued mandates to wear masks while in public settings. The continued spike in COVID-19 cases has caused several states to close bars and pause plans to reopen some businesses such as movie theaters. While a number of states had previously mandated masks in many public spaces, several more have been added to the list in recent days. Requiring face coverings are largely being seen as a way to avoid reinstituting stay-at-home orders, which most states implemented during the spring.Researchers from the University of Washington say that a projected 33,000 American lives would be saved between June 23 and October 1 if 95% of the population wore masks in public settings.A study in the Lancet found that the use of masks and respirators by those infected with the virus reduced the risk of spreading the infection by 85%. The authors analyzed data that showed that N95 respirators in healthcare settings were up to 96% effective. Other masks were found to be 77% effective. The following states generally require face coverings to be worn in public:Alabama - July 16Arkansas - July 16California – June 18Colorado - July 17Connecticut – April 20Delaware – May 1District of Columbia – May 16Hawaii - April 17Illinois – April 30Indiana - July 27Kansas - July 3Kentucky - July 10Louisiana - July 13Maine – April 29Maryland – April 18Massachusetts – May 6Michigan - April 24Minnesota - July 25Montana - July 16Nevada – June 24New Jersey - April 10New Mexico – May 15New York – April 15North Carolina – June 26Ohio - July 23Oregon - July 1Pennsylvania – April 18Puerto Rico Rhode Island – May 8Texas - July 2Vermont - August 1Virginia - June 8Washington - June 26West Virginia - July 7Some states, like Ohio and Texas, require mask wearing only in counties where there are high coronavirus case rates. More than a dozen other states have issued recommendations for wearing masks. Some of those states require employees in certain fields to wear a mask while at work. 2059

With 20 electoral votes at stake, all eyes will be on Pennsylvania on Election Day. However, officials warn that counting the ballots could take days.In Bucks County, a heavily populated suburban county near Philadelphia has a population of about 628,000 people. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the county by a narrow lead with a few thousand votes. This time around, both presidential campaigns have been courting the suburban vote, and the suburban Philadelphia counties are considered critical. Polls across the state closed at 8 p.m. EST, and now the more than 2 million mail-in ballots the state has received can now be counted. “We sent out about 200,000 ballots, which is 10 times more than we did four years ago, and we've gotten back somewhere in the area 160,000,” said Bob Harvie, Bucks County, Pennsylvania Board of Elections Chairman. “We still have mail coming in obviously today that we can accept. We had U.P.S. dropping off some ballots. We've got drop boxes that will be emptied at 8, and those will be brought here, and we don't know how much will be in those.” In Pennsylvania, more than 2 million mail-in ballots have been returned so far. The state doesn’t have a lot of experience dealing with large amounts of mail-in ballots, unlike places like Colorado, Washing, and even Florida and Arizona, where ballots have been counted as they come in. However, in Bucks County, officials didn’t begin counting ballots until after the polls closed, and a handful of Pennsylvania counties won’t start counting until tomorrow. “It's been a big challenge. It has been, you know, primarily because we were not even able toopen the envelopes until today. And there's a security envelope. So, that's two envelopes you need to open. You need to be able to make sure that everything is on there, their name, their address, the date,” said Diane Marseglia, Bucks County Board of Elections. “So, you're checking for a lot of things all at the same time and then you're pulling it out, and then, you're going to start to gather them for a vote. That's a lot of time.”If the presidential race hinges on Pennsylvania, it’s possible we won’t know who won the presidency for days.E.W. Scripps national correspondent Maya Rodriguez is in the Keystone State, bringing you the latest on Election Day. 2302

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — There were plenty of Palm Beach County residents opposed to a mask mandate. Now some of them are suing to stop it.A lawsuit filed Tuesday in Palm Beach County court seeks injunctive relief to overturn the county's order.Attorneys representing Palm Beach County residents Rachel Eade, Carl Holme, Josie Machovic and Robert Spreitzer claim the new order requiring that masks be worn in public places infringes upon the constitutional rights of the plaintiffs. The 37-page lawsuit, filed by the Coconut Creek-based Florida Civil Rights Coalition, argues that the plaintiffs and other residents are having their "well-settled constitutionally protected freedoms" violated, including their "constitutional and human right to privacy and bodily autonomy."The lawsuit goes on to say that the county, having no authority to do so under Florida law, "has recklessly required countless American citizens and Florida residents," including the plaintiffs, "to submit to dangerous medical treatments with well-known risks and potential for serious injuries and death, including being forced to wear harmful medical devices like masks."Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously voted last week in favor of the mask mandate to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus amid a recent surge in cases throughout the county and state. The lawsuit takes aim at the "ridiculously vague" language of the order, which attorneys for the plaintiffs claim forces residents and visitors "to guess at the meanings and be subjected to punishment and criminal consequence."It also chastises the order's exemptions "because it arbitrarily and absurdly discriminates against anyone over the age of 2 years old, and countless citizens" who don't meet the "unlawful order's vague and ambiguous exceptions."The lawsuit berates county leaders for not clearly defining terms like "businesses or establishments" and "persons" as it is written in the order."Are non-citizens included?" attorneys wrote. "One is only left to guess, which is why the unlawful order is void for vagueness."Attorneys for the plaintiffs argue that a permanent injunction "will serve the public interest.""Millions of Palm Beach County residents and visitors are burdened by the over-reach of their local government in a fashion not before seen in the history of Florida," they wrote, adding that residents are "unduly burdened" by this violation of their rights. "The public has a strong interest in protecting their rights and ability to control their own bodies in the workplace and in public."Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said during a news conference Friday that commissioners do, in fact, have the constitutional authority to mandate masks."Obviously, those individuals who claim that they know the First Amendment have obviously never read the First Amendment," Aronberg said. "Because it is within the authority of the County Commission to put forward a mask ordinance. They have the authority under state law. They have the authority under the Constitution."The lawsuit seeks expedited consideration because the order is currently in effect. A written response by the county is required within 20 days of the filing.Several studies show that a mask or facial covering limits the wearer from spreading airborne droplets when speaking, sneezing or coughing. The coronavirus can live outside the body in these droplets for several hours and, in turn, infect other people — even before the person who spread the droplets has exhibited symptoms of COVID-19.Earlier this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued guidance that strongly recommended all Americans over the age of 2 wear masks in public, particularly in situations that would make social distancing impossible. This story was originally published by Peter Burke on WPTV in Palm Beach, Florida. 3872

Winning nearly billion might cause some to be tempted to buy a fancy car or a huge mansion, but what if you could buy an entire professional sports franchise? If you hit the jackpot on Friday, that would be theoretically possible. The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions is a lottery-record 0 million. As tickets are purchased, that jackpot figure could rise to close, if not more than, billion by Friday night's drawing. Assuming you did not have to pay taxes, what would 0 million get you in the professional sports world? According to Forbes, if you're looking for an NFL team, forget about it. The least valuable franchise in the NFL is the Buffalo Bills, which is worth .6 billion. Despite lackluster attendance in a small market, Buffalo, and similar markets such as Cleveland, Cincinnati and Tampa Bay benefit from revenue sharing and the league's hefty television rights package. It is a similar situation in the NBA, which has a valuable worldwide television audience. If Mega Millions climbs to billion, that would be just enough to purchase the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite their lack of recent success, the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers are the two most valuable franchises, according to Forbes. The Knicks are worth .6 billion, and the Lakers are valued at .3 billion. If you're looking to purchase a baseball franchise, your options are limited. The only team worth less than billion is Tampa Bay, which was valued by Forbes at 0 million. Six other teams are worth at or just above billion. In the NHL, you could afford to be picky. Out of 31 NHL teams, only four are worth more than billion. So unless you were hoping to purchase the Rangers, Maple Leafs, Canadiens or Blackhawks, you're in luck. NHL teams are valued less than NFL, MLB and NBA franchises due to its reliance on ticket sales and merchandise on revenues. Buying a soccer franchise in the US is a little more complicated. Although the most valuable team in the MLS is the Los Angeles Galaxy at 0 million, the league is considered a single entity. Instead of having individual owners, it has operator-investors. So theoretically you could purchase the rights to operate any MLS franchise you would like, the MLS technically would own the franchise. Of course one factor not considered is federal and state taxes, which would likely decrease winnings. But even in that case, purchasing an NHL or operating an MLS team is not impossible.  2531
