MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Authorities are investigating what exactly caused a plane to land on the freeway in the Bay Area Sunday morning, according to The Mercury News. The plane landed on Highway 101 near Morgan Hill around 11 a.m. The plane blocked one lane of the highway before authorities were able to tow it away.The Federal Aviation Administration said engine failure caused the emergency landing.Only the pilot was onboard and was uninjured, authorities confirmed. More people are experiencing hair loss related to the pandemic.A dermatologist tells us that before the coronavirus crisis, she was seeing one or two patients per day for shedding. Now, they account for about 10 patients a day, which is half her daily caseload.The patients can be broken into three categories. Some people are seeing a sudden onset of hair loss. Others have a known disease, like psoriasis or alopecia, and are now seeing flare ups. Both of those are attributed to added stress.Then, there's the patients who have had COVID-19 and are seeing shedding afterwards. That's not necessarily a direct result of the virus. It could be from the toll on the body.Patients who have recovered from other viral diseases have also experienced hair loss afterwards.“So, just the process of being sick, having a high fever, not eating well, those can be a shock to your system that can trigger hair shedding,” said Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic.Hair loss patients who have had COVID-19 will have to work through their own recovery process. For those related to stress, you can try to manage it with things like exercise or meditation.“One sign of stress is hair loss, but there's probably other internal signs that you may not even realize that you're experiencing and things you're putting your body through so, recognizing the stress and doing things to mitigate that is a very important thing to do at this time," said Piliang.The American Academy of Dermatology Association says when hair loss is caused by fever or stress, it tends to return to normal on its own in less than a year.If you think your hair loss might be caused by something else, talk to an expert. 1710

Musicians of the Nashville Symphony have created a fund to raise money for furloughed members due to the COVID-19 shutdown.The Nashville Symphony Players’ Assembly set up the fund on their website. They're raising the money for 83 members of the orchestra who are still on a furlough that could last a full year. Click here to donate to the Nashville Symphony members. "It's really terrifying. You have a lot of single parents in the orchestra," said Melinda Whitley, a long time viola player for the symphony.Whitley said she knows of at least two musicians who have had to sell their home because of the furlough, which started on July 1."No one prepares, not on a musician's salary, to spend a year with no income," she said.To encourage people to donate, and to continue to play their music, the Musicians of the Nashville Symphony have continued to play live music online. This past weekend an online concert was held at St. George Episcopal Church in Nashville.A number of concerts have also been planned to help raise money for the musicians."This is Nashville. And it's a very creative place and a supportive place. If we can continue to serve the community the best way we know how then they will continue to help us. That's the best we can do for ourselves at this point," said Whitley.Whitley said she's worried more musicians will leave the orchestra if something doesn't change soon. MILWAUKEE —The Milwaukee County Zoo welcomed another brand new baby giraffe to their family this month.According to the Milwaukee County Zoo, the new female calf was born one week ago to mother Marlee, and dad, Bahatika. This marks the second offspring for Marlee, and the fourth for Bahatika. The new giraffe joins young male, Kazi, the most recent giraffe born at the Zoo in September 2017.Zoo doctors say the calf weighed about 174 pounds and was approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall during her first exam.Zookeepers and medical staff have been monitoring the mother and her baby.  They say Marlee appears very calm and attentive to the calf, who is nursing regularly.Marlee is 6 yearsold, and arrived at the Milwaukee County Zoo in 2013 from Zoo Miami. Bahatika is 12-years-old and arrived in Milwaukee in 2006 from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado.The Zoo currently houses six giraffe: adults Bahatika, Marlee, Ziggy, Rahna; youngster Kazi; and the newborn. 986

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — Over the past year, there has been an increase in drivers illegally passing school buses in Kenosha County, Wisconsin.In 2017, the Kenosha County Sheriffs Office issues 57 "failure to stop for school bus" violations. This year, the number of citations is up 70.Steve Bennett has been a bus driver at First Student Inc. in Kenosha for 11 years. It's a school bus company that services 39 schools in that county. He said when he sees a car passing the stop arm, it’s upsetting. “It’s a mix between anger and I’m terrified. What’s going to happen with my kids?” Bennet said.According to a one-day study done by the Wisconsin School Bus Association, out of 1,538 participating drivers, 363 cars were observed passing the stop arms.In Waukesha County, 242 violations were reported in 2017. Michael Comstock, manager of First Student, said his drivers report violations daily. Once a violation is observed, license plate numbers and the description of the vehicle are then handed off to authorities. “It’s a life and death decision every time they decide to drive through the red lights on a school,” said Bennett.Elizabeth Ramirez is a mother of a 4-year-old and said it’s gut-wrenching to see drivers pass through school bus stop arms. “You have to pay attention because that’s why so many things are happening nowadays.
