WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A group of South Florida strip clubs will give away 3,000 turkeys to needy families for Thanksgiving.Rodriguez Charities will be giving away 1,000 turkeys at three different locations on Monday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m.The turkeys are intended for families in need, are limited to one turkey per household, and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last on Nov. 20 at each of the three locations.The free Thanksgiving turkey giveaway started with just 100 turkeys at just one location in 2014. Over the last three years the number of free turkeys distributed has increased to 1,000 each year. This year Rodriguez Charities is tripling the amount of free turkeys that will be given away, totaling 3,000 birds between the three locations.According to a news release, the organization says actor Angel "Chi Chi" Salazar, who has appeared in movies like "Scarface" and "Carlito's Way", is scheduled to appear at the turkey giveaway, along with "former NFL greats".Over the last 11 years, Rodriguez Charities has donated more than .5 million to various charitable organizations and needy individuals throughout South Florida. 1191

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old has gone above and beyond this holiday season.Aiden Foster didn’t give up until a West Palm Beach woman found her cat which ran away weeks ago.The past 10 years Ashley Goldstein and her furry friend, Tobin, have been inseparable. But just days after they settled into a new home, Tobin disappeared.“I was desperate to find him. I put flyers up,”Goldstein said.She searched for several days which then turned into weeks, still no sign of Tobin.“Honestly I thought I was never going to see him again. I kinda gave up,” she said.At that moment, a glimmer of hope.Ashley received a phone call with the news that she’d been desperately waiting for.“It’s this little boy telling me that he thinks he saw my cat,” she explained.It was Foster, the neighborhood pet detective, who promised to help.“I saw him in the backyard he ran over the fence,” Foster said.Aiden kept his word and went above and beyond, using a little creativity in the process.“So I tried to go after him and I just couldn’t so I just put my cat food that was there, I put a trail all the way down there left a whole big pile over there ,” Foster said.60 days after his disappearance, Ashley received her Christmas miracle. We're all looking forward to the return of live in-person music events. However, some artists and people behind-the-scenes don't want the industry to return to how things were before the pandemic. They want to put a new focus on making the stage more inclusive."We're now in the year 2020. I think people have had enough," said Jerome Crooks with Never Famous. Noelle Scaggs with Diversify the Stage agrees. "I've hit my wits end with being the only one. Being the only one on a stage that looks like me, reflects my skin tone."The message that things have to change is growing louder since the death of George Floyd earlier this year. "The music business can't have an effect on society until we've held ourselves accountable," said Binta Niambi Brown with the Black Music Action Coalition. "For those of us who have long desired to advance issues of equity and justice, it (Floyd's death) created this undeniable moment and we felt like we needed to seize it."Brown is a music executive who recently co-founded the Black Music Action Coalition. She says when we look at music labels and publishers, there are few people of color in senior positions. "The reality is that when we improve anything for a Black person or for Black artists, Black executives, we're improving the model for everyone," said Brown.Noelle Scaggs, with the group Fitz and the Tantrums, is focused on having better pipelines to get young minorities into the live music and touring industry through her organization Diversify the Stage. "I think it's just really about widening the net of opportunity and recruitment and really kind of being considerate of your surroundings and I think we, as artists, we do have a responsibility to participate in this work," Scaggs said.Scaggs teamed up with the tour manager behind Never Famous, Jerome Crooks, to expand a resource where touring professionals can market themselves."The promoters and the vendors they have to listen, you know, and they have to want to be better," said Crooks.Live Nation Urban created a Black Tour Directory which lists hundreds of qualified Black professionals in the music industry. The effort is getting noticed, they landed on the cover of a magazine this month."As a Black man in this industry, I just want to move forward.
