A Michigan woman said she escaped two human traffickers from their home up north last week.According to Michigan State Police, troopers were called to a home in northern Michigan around 3 a.m. on Jan. 10, to investigate the alleged human trafficking case.Roscommon County Sheriff's deputies said they had a woman in custody for stealing a vehicle, but the woman said she escaped a home where two men forced her to clean and perform acts of prostitution.The woman told troopers she was being held against her will by two suspects, identified as James Jarrell and Jeffrey Kobel, both 50 and from Roscommon.She said she had been brought three hours north from Ypsilanti to Roscommon County a few days earlier. There was also alleged drug dealing going on at the residence.The MSP Emergency Support Team and other agencies executed a search warrant at the house and arrested both men.Police charged Jarrell with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of unlawful imprisonment and one count of habitual offender fourth offense. Police charged Kobel with one count of unlawful imprisonment and habitual offender third offense.Both remain in the Crawford County Jail. 1195

A shooting at a bowling alley late Friday left three men dead and four people wounded in Southern California, and police are trying to find whoever fired the shots, authorities said.The gunshots at the Gable House Bowl in Torrance went off just before midnight. A fight -- first involving young ladies, then men -- happened shortly beforehand, sending people running, a witness said."Then ... maybe a minute and a half later, all of the sudden all we heard was, pop, pop, pop," the witness, Dana Scott, told RMG News. "Bowlers were diving under the benches. The people that were still bowling on the lanes were on the floors, underneath the seats.""People were looking for their parents, because this is a family league. You've got mothers, fathers, sons, daughters ... everybody's friends in that league," she said.No arrests were immediately reported after the shooting. City police were "working to identify the suspect(s) involved," they said in a news release.By late Saturday morning, relatives of those who were shot were clustered outside the bowling alley, standing behind yellow police tape. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, almost nothing feels normal. Simply walking out your home comes with new rules to follow. Now, filing taxes this year is causing some confusion. “Normally, busy season is a challenge in and of itself, but this has added many more layers,” said Elieen Sherr, with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.Sherr has had an increase number of people confused on whether they are supposed to file their income taxes now, or if the federal income tax deadline extension applies to them.“This all happened in the last few weeks, and the states, they were waiting for the IRS to come out with their guidance,” said Sherr. “At first, it was just payment relief. Then, it was filing and payment relief, so that was confusing.”Sherr explained, just shy of the normal tax deadline, there is now some clearer guidance.The federal government has extended it deadline for federal tax filing and payments to July 15, 2020. Many states have now moved their filing deadlines to match.However, in a few states like Mississippi, Virginia, and Idaho, you have to file earlier. The deadline is May 15 in Mississippi, June 1 for Virginia, and June 15 in Idaho.Differing state and federal deadlines have some wondering if you file your state return early can you file your federal at the later deadline?“Generally, you have to start with the federal, so you will have to start with the federal to get to a state return,” said Sherr.Some good news in that instance: if you owe money on your federal return, you won’t have to pay that until July 15. In this particular class, the students are learning how to cook, and their instructor is an executive chef. “Adulting School is really about a positive way to reframe the sh*t that we have to do as adults,” says Rachel Flehinger with the school.Flehinger says the topics they work to reframe include finances, budgeting, home repairs and more.“If you change it from a chore to just a fun choice, then you can have fun in your life, and that’s what they realize,” Flehinger says.But some topics might surprise you.“Like conflict resolution is really important,” she says. “Because in this day, there’s not as much face to face talking, so how do we approach people? Our bosses?
