(KGTV) -  The safety driver behind the wheel of an autonomous Uber vehicle that struck and killed a woman in Arizona is a convicted felon, according to ABC affiliate KABC.The driver, identified as 44-year-old Rafael Vasquez, was in the self-driving car when it fatally hit 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg as she crossed an unlit Tempe, Ariz., roadway outside of a crosswalk with her bicycle.Court documents showed someone with the same name and birthdate served more than four years for two felony convictions: One for making false statement when obtaining unemployment benefits and the other for armed robbery, according to KABC.RELATED: Police release video after Uber self-driving car hits, kills womanWhile the crash has raised concerns over Uber's driver screening policy, the company states "everyone deserves a fair chance" in regards to employing those with a criminal record.Uber said Vasquez met the company's hiring requirements, KABC reported. (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric has shut off power to more than 1,400 customers due to dry, windy conditions.According to the company, a total of 1,466 residents were affected in the East County communities of Boulevard, Campo, and Jacumba.SDG&E says winds have since subsided and crews have started inspections on equipment in an effort to restore power.“We currently expect that power will be restored today as long it is safe to do so,” the company said.SDG&E says a community resource center will be opened by 5 p.m. should power remain off.The center is located at 39919 Ribbonwood Road in Boulevard. 626

(KGTV) — The coroner's office has identified a teenager killed after a student pulled out a handgun and fired at classmates at a Southern California high school Thursday.Gracie Anne Muehlberger, 15, died from her injuries in the shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita. One other student, a 14-year-old boy, also died at Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia, but his identity has not been released.Three other students, 14-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl, were injured in the shooting, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva. ABC News and CNN have identified the suspect as 16-year-old Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow.Berhow, a junior at the high school, died Friday from injuries after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Sheriff's Homicide detectives told ABC News. Detectives said his mother was present at the time of his death.Investigators were still searching for a motive Friday. One detective said the shooting occurred on Berhow's 16th birthday."We have not yet established a motive or a nexus between the subject and his victims," Sheriff's Capt. Kent Wegener said Thursday. Officials added there's no history of Berhow being bullied or belief he "was acting on behalf of any group or ideology."Investigators said they believe the students injured were targeted at random, but added "it wasn't a spur of the moment act."It's unclear how Berhow reportedly acquired the firearm used in the attack. Several firearms were found in his home after investigators served a search warrant. Authorities added that Berhow's father, who's no longer alive, had six firearms registered to his name.
