SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Several women appeared in San Diego County Court to recall the interactions they had with Juan Carlos Cordero, the man they claim raped them. San Diego Police arrested 35-year-old Cordero in March for multiple felony sex crimes beginning in 2015. Police said he would approach intoxicated women at bars or online, take them back to his home, and rape them. One by one, the women came into the courtroom Wednesday, to answer questions at the preliminary hearing. The accusers said admittedly, some of the details of what happened are foggy."I'm not sure," one woman replied. "I honestly don't remember, but I was embarrassed that I didn't remember," said another. "I felt like ... I was drugged," another woman said. One woman said she met Cordero after posting on a singles advertisement on Craigslist. She was hoping for a pleasant interaction but said it turned horrific. She said she did everything Cordero told her to do, fearing for her life."He threatened me with spanks with the belt, a weapon," she said. Another woman said she met Cordero on a dating site when she was 18. She admitted lying to her father about Cordero, saying he was a person she knew. But after drinking a few beers in San Diego County, she said Cordero drove her to his home in Newport Beach. "I don't remember very much until I woke up to him yelling at me that I was being too loud, and that I was like every other girl and that I was going to wake up his neighbors," she recalled.After that interaction, she demanded Cordero drive her back to San Diego. In fear that her parents would scold her, she said she did not tell them what had happened, until a few hours later. On the drive home, she remembered that Cordero punched her face repeatedly."I grabbed the steering wheel and yanked it on the freeway," she said. "He [Cordero] got off at the next exit, and I ran into the Denny's."She then had her father pick her up at the restaurant in San Clemente. The following day, she said she went into a hospital to take a drug and rape kit.Another accuser said last fall, she and Cordero went on what started as a nice first date. But she ended up unconscious and woke up in pain."I noticed welts on the back of my butt, I guess," she said. Tearing up, she said she was too embarrassed to report the incident because the two continued to date. After they broke up, she said she read an article about Cordero and his alleged victims. That is when she decided to go to the police and tell her own story."He choked me until the point where I couldn't breathe," she said. "And I asked him to stop." "And what did he say?" prosecutor Martin Doyle said. "That he could end me right then and no one would know," she replied. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University released its plan Monday relating to holiday travel during the pandemic. It comes as students are getting ready to travel home for the holidays in a few weeks.The policies apply to students living on campus and those with in-person classes.Roughly 2,100 students live on-campus, and about 2,200 students are enrolled in an in-person class or participating in on-campus research, according to SDSU. There is a crossover between the groups.Students living on campus can choose to stay on campus over Thanksgiving. Meal plans and other student services will be available during the break.Students who choose to go home and see family have an option. The plan says they “may choose to remain at home for the rest of the fall semester and complete the last two weeks of the term remotely.”Those that travel and return to on-campus housing will be tested for COVID-19 immediately upon returning and then tested again, five to seven days later.Those taking in-person classes will be asked to test weekly upon returning; they are currently required to test every 14-days. Those taking in-person classes are being encouraged to avoid holiday travel.The notice to students goes on to say:"Each of us must continue to be very thoughtful and careful, even if the effects of COVID-19 seem invisible or have not touched some of us personally. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's most popular hiking spots may become a little easier to get to — before the hike up, that is.County planners will consider whether to purchase about 84 acres of land from the Taylor Family Trust to help construct a parking lot on State route 67 to help hikers access the trail head.Currently, hikers and runners park along SR-67 and on surrounding neighborhood streets and run or hike along the highway and private or state-owned lands to access the county's utility road that leads up to the popular North County landmark."The most popular route to Potato Chip Rock is currently accessed by hikers parking on the shoulders of SR 67 and on nearby neighborhood streets, which poses safety concerns. Hikers park their vehicles on the shoulders of SR 67 and traverse private or State-owned land to access the City of San Diego’s utility road to Potato Chip Rock, which hikers use as a trail," the County Board of Supervisors plan says.RELATED: San Diego County park rangers recommend these trails in 2019Otherwise, hikers would have to park at Lake Poway Park to hike up Mount Woodson 7.5 miles to reach the Potato Chip Rock. The 84-acre plot could provide access to the county land and allow for off-road parking, the board says.The plot of land would be large enough for parking to serve those accessing the eastern route of Mount Woodson as well as the county road up to the rock.
