SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man says his car was stolen while he was picking up a delivery order from a Subway in Clairemont. Luis Riveramerced said he was working for Postmates, a food delivery app, on Tuesday when he stopped at the Subway in Clairemont Town Square.“All I had to do is grab the bag and take off,” he said.So he felt comfortable leaving his car running, expecting to be in and out in a few seconds.“If I know it’s pick-up only, then I'll let my car run. I’ll just grab it,” he said.But while he was inside, he noticed part of the order was missing. As he was waiting for the order to be fixed, surveillance video captured a man peeking into the store, getting in his car and driving away.“I was like wow,” he remembered thinking when he went back outside. “I wasn’t expecting somebody to jump in my car right in front of me and take off like that.”He called the police but by the time they got there, the driver was long gone.“You put a little bit of trust and now I will never do that again,” said Riveramerced.A Navy veteran, he said he’d been working for Postmates for a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A mom shopping with her one-year-son leapt into action when she found a car burglar inside her SUV in University City.On Wednesday morning at the Vons on Governor Drive, Gloria spent about 15 minutes shopping inside. Her son was sitting in the cart. As soon as she pushed the loaded cart out of the store, her eyes zeroed in on her SUV, parked close to the store."I was kind of in disbelief. Someone was in the car and the passenger door was wide open," said Gloria.Gloria saw a man rummaging through her center console and started screaming. She pushed every button on her key fob."The panic alarm actually went off. Scared the living daylights out of him, and he took off running," said Gloria. Moments after, she found her phone in her purse and starting recording. Surveillance video shows her take off in his direction. Holding tightly to her son, she continued to scream. Still pushing the cart, she followed him. "Definitely adrenaline and pure anger," said Gloria.Gloria has been a victim of three car burglaries in the past five years."I'm going to get you this time. You're not going to do this to anybody else," Gloria kept thinking. Less than a minute later, she followed him across the parking lot to a U-Haul truck before he drove off. She got a photo of him and the license plate. Possibly realizing Gloria got video, the guy ditched the truck, which was recovered hours later. She says police told her it was loaded with stuff: some of her belongings and other items, likely stolen. Police say the license plate led them to a local address, but the man wasn't there. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego insurance agent who cheated 15 victims out of nearly .5 million was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison.Shawn Heffernan, 43, pleaded guilty in February to 29 felony counts of fraud and other charges, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.Heffernan would often convince clients to surrender existing life insurance policies and purchase new ones. The practice, known as “churning” or “twisting”, led to hefty commissions for Heffernan and steep penalties for clients, prosecutors said. Heffernan also collected investment funds and spent them on personal items including a Maserati, jewelry, and a lavish wedding, according to the District Attorney. Eight of Heffernan’s victims were senior citizens.“Stealing money from investors, and defrauding them out of their hard-earned savings, especially when some of the victims are senior citizens, is disgraceful and will not be tolerated,” District Attorney Summer Stephan said.  1011

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man with San Diego ties who worked for the U.S. government is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women, according to federal court documents.An FBI spokesperson confirmed Brian Jeffrey Raymond was arrested in La Mesa earlier this month.The arrest was first reported by The Daily Beast.Team 10 learned his arrest on October 9th took place in the parking lot of a La Mesa gym. Currently, he faces one charge related to sexual assault, but prosecutors said he is under investigation for crimes against 21 other women.Raymond, who most recently worked for the U.S embassy in Mexico City, had worked for the government for 23 years."For years, he has exerted power and control over unconscious women, undressing them, sexually assaulting them, photographing them, and recording them without their knowledge or consent," prosecutors wrote in court documents. They called him an "experienced sexual predator."He is currently at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown. In a hearing this week, he was ordered to be transferred to Washington D.C. The investigation showed in May 2020, police in Mexico City responded to Raymond's apartment to reports of a "naked, hysterical woman desperately screaming for help." The woman said she met Raymond on Tinder. Their date eventually led to his apartment, where they ate snacks and drank "from a wine glass [Raymond] provided in his residence," documents showed. The victim said she suddenly blacked out. A sexual assault examination showed several injuries.On Raymond's devices and iCloud, investigators said they found approximately 400 photos and videos, some dating back to 2011. They showed at least "21 different unconscious women." Some of the women were fully nude.Law enforcement said they found his internet searches included "passed out black girl," "deep sleep," and "Ambien and alcohol side effects."The alleged assaults took place from Mexico City to Virginia, according to prosecutors. Raymond's parents live in La Mesa. Documents showed he moved back to their home in June after he resigned from his job. In an interview with federal agents, his parents said "they feel like they do not know their son" and were surprised when he came to visit. Prosecutors said his behavior was escalating, even after his arrest. A week before he was arrested in La Mesa, they said Raymond met another women who could only remember small fragments of their sexual encounter.Raymond's attorney did not return Team 10's request for comment. 2531

He’s a mentor for inner-city golfers, a sport often seen as a past-time for the 1 percent. “I played golf across the street from my house from where we lived, on the school ground. It was five of, three of us, that used one golf club,” said Brown. From those humble beginnings in South Carolina, Brown forged a career in professional golf that eventually led him to San Diego. In 1973, he started helping disadvantaged kids learn the game. "What golf teaches to the kids that we've raised through the San Diego inner City Junior Golf Foundation is honor, dignity respect, etiquette, and truly wanting to do something better with their lives.” Brown estimates he has worked with thousands of kids over the years.
