A man fell about 100 feet into the ocean on the Oregon coast while trying to take a photograph at the scenic spot, according to state police.Sunday afternoon, troopers were called to an area of Oswald West State Park, about 20 miles south of the Oregon-Washington border.Two people had walked down a trail to take a photo at a cliffside viewpoint. The investigation found one of the hikers climbed a tree on the cliff’s edge to pose for a photo. A limb broke, causing the man to fall into the ocean below.Oregon State Police shared an image of a "danger" sign along the trail.The U.S. Coast Guard helped find the man. A major hospital system is managing the fallout of what may be the biggest medical cyberattack in U.S. history.United Health Services says its company-wide network is currently offline due to a suspected ransomware attack.Ransomware is when criminals encrypt files and demand money for a key to unlock them again.Experts say hospitals may be more susceptible while fighting the coronavirus.“Medical record and medical care facilities are prime targets, not only because of the high value of the information, but also because of the fact that people are terribly busy,” said Alan Katerinsky, a clinical assistant professor at the University at Buffalo.It's not just hospitals. Cyber-attack attempts are up about five times since the pandemic started.People working from home don't have the same corporate protections that are normally in place in an office. IT workers may also be remote.“It might be more difficult to work from home and notice things that are going on, instead of just being on-site, on the premises, and seeing what's going on, on an ongoing basis,” said Steve Beaty, a professor of computer sciences at MSU Denver.After a ransomware attack, if an organization doesn't pay to get their files back, they still have to pay for the cleanup.The criminal may retaliate by releasing the private information, like what happened to a school district in Las Vegas this week.There's recently been talk of legislation to make it illegal to pay such ransoms, which may help deter criminals.“They've upped their game partially because maybe they're seeing that there is going to be a limited amount of time this is actually going to work, at least in some jurisdictions,” said Beaty.Cyber criminals often get in through phishing emails, so training to recognize harmful links may help.Companies can also run tests to see if there are vulnerabilities in their systems, but that's more expensive.It's also important for remote workers to use a VPN for privacy. 1971

A controversial sanctuary city bill will become law in Tennessee without Governor Bill Haslam's signature. State lawmakers overwhelmingly passed HB2315, which prohibits cities and counties from adopting policies that would protect undocumented immigrants from federal agents. Haslam said Monday that the bill has created a lot of unnecessary fear in the state and doesn’t change the way the state deals with federal immigration agencies. When was asked why he wouldn’t veto the bill, Haslam said it’s because it would just prolong the discussion, adding there aren't currently have any sanctuary cities in Tennessee. The so-called sanctuary city bill requires law enforcement officials to comply with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement rules, including detainer requests.   837

A Georgia high school teacher is under investigation after he was filmed telling a student he "might" shoot the kid in the head.Paul Hagan, a white physics teacher at Rockdale Career Academy, was filmed ranting against an unidentified black student, according to Atlanta's WSB-TV."Don't smile at me, man," Hagan is heard telling the student. "That's how people like you get shot."In the video, which WSB shared on Facebook, Hagan goes on to say, "I gotta bet by the time you're 21 somebody's gonna put a bullet right through your head. OK? And it might be me the one who does it."The video was apparently shot by another student.Officials at Rockdale Career Academy are investigating the incident.
