Christians around the world follow the steps of the final days of Jesus Christ in the week leading up to Easter, called Holy Week. This year's Holy Week began Sunday, April 14, which is called Palm Sunday. In the Holy Bible, it's the day Jesus entered Jerusalem, where He would later be crucified on a cross at Golgatha. In the United States, the day is mostly commemorated in worship services of prayer, hymns and sermons, typically with palm leaves as part of the ceremonies. Why palms?Palms are considered a symbol of good luck. People put palm leaves in their homes, lay them over graves and more. Some Christian groups will have processionals in which they carry palm leaves, and children will use them to craft crosses. Palm branches are referenced in the Holy Bible and are considered a symbol of triumph, life and the beginning of Holy Week.Palm Sunday is also called Passion Sunday — a time to reflect on one's Christian's faith and renew spirit. 964

"I’ve got shoes, bags everywhere, but it doesn't matter."Withrow said she and son were “fighting, fighting, fighting, fighting" for a year and four months until that phone call came - and then she didn't answer it right away."Marquis was at work when I got the call. I thought it was a spam call, so I kept hanging up on them. They kept calling back," Withrow said, until she finally answered."She said, 'Are you ready? ... We have a heart and kidney for Marquis.'"The immediate joy and relief were beyond words."She was like, 'Take your time, but get him here as soon as possible.' I was still like, 'WHAT?'"Actually, mother and son have been fighting Marquis's whole life, she said.At just 5 days old, Marquis had open heart surgery. At 3 years old, he had his first heart transplant.Marquis was born with 1399

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Zoo announced they euthanized a 22-year-old white lion on Monday, citing age-related health issues. Zoo officials said they made the difficult decision to euthanize the lion, Prosperity, because zookeepers observed her mobility and quality of life decrease over a period of several months. The median life expectancy for white lions is 16 years. Zoo officials attribute Prosperity's longevity to the special geriatric enrichment, diet and care she received from their care team. 520
DENVER, Colo. – When it comes to businesses in America, women owned companies make up 40%. Although that number is on the rise, women are facing different challenges in order to achieve success.About 11.6 million businesses are owned by women, but Madhavan Parthasarathy, Director of Entrepreneurship at University of Colorado Denver, says a majority of those businesses are small. Parthasarathy says women aren’t achieving success at the same rate as men because they are outnumbered."The biggest challenge is to be taken serious,” said Parthasarathy. “It's not just a challenge starting a business but getting funding for a business.Besides landing investors, Parthasarathy says it's hard for women to find mentors and connect with a network of other entrepreneurs to help grow their businesses.Sarah Ortega with Sarah O. Jewelry knows a thing or two about the struggles of owning a business. Despite the disadvantages, she says women have an edge that helps them."We are humble people,” said Ortega. “We like to collaborate with other people and we really feel emotion."A downfall – women can be their own worst critics."If you can learn to take that negative self-talk and say ‘not today, not today, I’m not going to listen to you today. I’m going to grow and make something beautiful.’ If you can do that, that’s when things start to change."Male or female, both Ortega and Parthasarathy say mistakes will happen when owning your own business."That's one of the most important things about being an entrepreneur is to not get down and out on your mistakes," said Ortega. “If I make a mistake I go ‘okay cool where do we take that mistake and make it a learning and experience and grow from it.’" One company who's a big advocate of women owned businesses is Secret. Every Wednesday in the month of December, the company is encouraging people to shop at a woman owned business. 1893
