PALA, Calif. (KGTV) - A North County family lost everything in a fire but their dog, thanks to a man who ran into a burning home. Firefighters yelled at Jose Guzman to stop as he ran past them into the house in Pala this week. "When I ran through curtain of fire where my van was and fence, I didn't know what was behind that, decided to come here anyways,” said Guzman. Guzman didn’t care about belongings; he wanted to save his pit bull, Gabbana. "I knew my dog was here, I knew she was here,” he said. “I ran through here tried to stay in the middle this was going, this was on fire, couldn't see anything." Gabbana was hiding behind the toilet. "All I wanted was to get my dog, I came in here, I didn't hesitate, I just, I had to get her, she's part of the family." Guzman, his wife, and two daughters had only lived in the home two months. "There's nothing that survived, nothing, all our savings were here." Guzman managed to save what mattered. "Me and family would've been destroyed, we love that dog, I'm sure there's people that would do the same thing,” Guzman said. (KGTV) -- Thursday, the world’s first autonomous robotic kitchen assistant, Flippy, made its debut.Flippy will begin working alongside kitchen staff at CaliBurger’s Pasadena location.Flippy will, of course, be flipping burger patties and removing them from the grill.The robotic arm was created by Miso Robotics, a company that specializes in robotics and artificial intelligence solutions.The company also developed Miso AI, a cloud-connected learning platform that powers the robotic arms.The technology can detect when the raw burger patties are places on the grill and monitors each one as it cooks.Miso AI displays cooking time and alerts staff when it’s time to place the cheese on top of the patty or dress the burger. 755

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A parade of cars and motorcycles circled around a Jewish community center's parking lot on Sunday for a World War II veteran's centennial birthday celebration."Why is everybody here today? Well, you better ask them (family members)," said Mike Katzman, who turned 100 years old on Monday. "I think it's because I am so good looking."While he might have been joking, he was there for a reason."I am one of the luckiest guys in the world to hit 100," Katzman said.He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served as a specialist in Texas and five other bases and schools throughout the United States.His family wanted to throw him a party at the community center, where he loves to workout, but the COVID-19 pandemic struck.Instead, he had a parade of family, friends and fellow veterans who drove by to say, "happy birthday."He has a few secrets to living this long: working out, giving to others and his special diet from when he was a child."My special diet was bologna. PALMDALE, Calif. (CNS) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Thursday investigated a gunbattle between detectives from its Major Crimes Bureau and a man accused of spousal abuse and other crimes, climaxing with the death of the suspect, who was later identified as a half brother of the young Black man found hanged from a tree in Palmdale last week.The shooting occurred in a parking lot at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of 15th Street West in the Kern County town of Rosamond as the detectives trailed a suspect about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, said Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department."Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau were actively searching for a kidnap, spousal abuse, assault with a deadly weapon suspect," Lt. Robert Westphal told reporters at the scene.The investigation led to the parking lot of the apartment complex, Nagao said."The detectives observed and positively identified a male matching the suspect's description in a vehicle," Nagao said. "Detectives followed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect opened the front passenger door of the vehicle and engaged the deputies by firing multiple rounds at them with a handgun. At that time, an officer involved shooting occurred during which the suspect was struck several times in the upper torso."The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene," Nagao said. "The female driver was also struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released. A seven year old girl was also in the vehicle and was uninjured."The suspect was struck several times in the upper body, Westphal said. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The 7-year-old girl's relationship to either adult was not immediately disclosed.Deputies recovered a gun at the scene. No deputies were hurt.The man who was fatally shot was Terron Jammal Boone, a half-brother of Fuller, a Fuller family attorney said."This afternoon I had to notify the sisters of Robert Fuller that their half-brother Terron Jammal Boone was killed by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies in Kern County," attorney Jamon Hicks said in a statement."At this time, until we receive all of the information, the family and their legal team doesn't have any further comment on this incident. The family respectfully asks that their privacy be respected."Court records cited by the Los Angeles Times show that Boone was charged Tuesday with multiple criminal counts including criminal threats, assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence.Surveillance video of the incident posted by the Rosamond Community Watchdog, a local news platform, showed multiple vehicles trailing a dark SUV into a housing complex parking lot, The Times reported. (KGTV) - Neighbors report gas thieves are targeting Pacific Beach drivers.Neighbor Jaden Perez said she parked her car around 10 p.m. Monday night and when she came out Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. she notices her car wasn't how she left it, "the gas it was left open and then the cap was hanging out and I was like that was kind of weird."When she turned on her car, she noticed the gauge read 1/2 tank instead of the three-quarters she had the night before."It ruined my day and it was something that was petty," she said, frustrated. "I hear about people, their paint getting messed with, them getting broken in, and I'm in a nicer neighborhood and then that happened, I was just really bummed.""I think there's people who are not working period that are trying to just burglarize and steal and get whatever they want," neighbor David Como said. He wants the police to step in and make their presence known.
