(KGTV) — California Highway Patrol is advising motorists to be prepared for a possible shut down of the Grapevine stretch of Interstate 5 this week.With a major winter storm expected to sweep through Southern California over the Thanksgiving holiday, CHP sent out a warning Tuesday for motorists to stay alert if using I-5 between Santa Clarita and Mettler, Calif."We are expecting snow on the Grapevine starting this Wednesday," CHP wrote. "We always hope to keep it open, however safety is our top priority. If the conditions become unsafe, we will hold traffic until Caltrans HQ makes the roadway safe. Expect a high volume of traffic this holiday week. Expect some delay and give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination safely."As an backup, CHP provided a map of alternate routes around the Grapevine through Highway 14 or Highway 101:Rain may hit Santa Clarita as early as Tuesday, with freezing conditions possible Thursday night. (CNN) -- Two of three children who went missing after floodwater swept up their vehicle in central Arizona have been found dead, the Gila County Sheriff's Office said Saturday.The search continues for the third child, authorities said.The children vanished Friday when a car crossing Tonto Creek, about 60 miles west of the New Mexico border, was caught in flooding around 4 p.m. local time, Gila County Undersheriff Mike Johnson said.Four children and one adult managed to get out of the vehicle and were stranded on an island in the creek, where they were rescued by a helicopter from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Johnson said.A woman who was in the water also got out, but three children were unaccounted for, the undersheriff said.The children and two adults were all in the car together when it was overtaken by floodwater, Johnson told CNN. (KGTV) — An 8-year-old Guatemalan boy in the care of U.S. Customs and Border Protection died shortly after midnight Tuesday in New Mexico, officials say.The child was in CBP custody when an agent noticed him showing signs of illness Monday. The child and his father were transferred to Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in New Mexico, where staff diagnosed the boy with a common cold and fever.The boy was released with prescriptions for Ibuprofen and amoxicillin later that day, officials said.RELATED: The final hours of Jakelin Caal Maquin, the Guatemalan girl who died in Border Patrol custodyMonday night, officials said the boy began vomiting and was taken back to the medical center, where officials say he died shortly after midnight Tuesday.
