DALLAS (AP) — University of Utah officials say star freshman running back Ty Jordan has died. Authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the Mesquite, Texas, native's death. The school announced Jordan's death on Saturday, a day after the 19-year-old was named Pac-12's newcomer of the year. He finished the season with 597 yards rushing, 11 catches for 126 yards, and six touchdowns. DENVER, Colorado — A gunman did not go to Arapahoe High School "this past Friday" with the intention of killing people.According to a post that's been circulating on Facbook for awhile, the shooter was "the only one dead" after an "armed school resource officer confronted him." That post has been recirculating following a deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14, 2018, which has spurred a bigger national conversation about arming teachers and about gun control.There was not a school shooting incident in Arapahoe recently, nor on Dec. 11, 2015. There was a shooting at the school Dec. 13, 2013 in which a shooter, an 18-year-old senior and debate club member, did shoot another student, who died several days later. The gunman also attempted to start a fire in the school and eventually shot himself in the head.According to fact-checker website Snopes.com, a school custodian saw the shooter and alerted security personnel. Those security professionals were joined by a deputy, but none shot the gunman.They did help minimize casualties by directing civilians at the scene and racing to confront the shooter.CNN reports the entire incident was over in 80 seconds. DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling over 1.6 million minivans and SUVs in the U.S. to fix problems that include faulty backup camera displays, malfunctioning dashboard lights, and sliding doors that don't latch properly. The problems were revealed in four recalls posted Tuesday by the government. They cover certain Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2020, Pilot SUVs from 2019 through 2021, and Passport SUVs from 2019 and 2020. In a statement posted to its website, the company said they would fix the repairs for free."American Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 608,000 model-year 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2020 Passport and 2019-2021 Pilot vehicles in the United States to complete one or more of four recall repairs, for free," the company said in the statement. "There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to these actions."Honda has traced the problems to faulty backup camera software programming, water entering door handles, water getting into camera mounting holes, and defective instrument panel software. Deputies arrested a Palm Beach County bookkeeper Saturday on accusations of stealing money from her employer to pay for a new vehicle.Erma Rios, 26, of suburban West Palm Beach, wrote and signed company checks to purchase a Land Rover from a dealership, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.Rios’ boss reported more than ,000 missing from the bank account of his Palm Beach Gardens business in January 2017.Bank records show Rios, a bookkeeper at the business, allegedly wrote out two checks to a used car dealership in December 2016.The first check written out by Rios was a ,000 down payment addressed to the used car dealership for a 2011 Land Rover, an arrest report states. The second check was written out a few weeks later as a final payment to the car dealership for ,000.Deputies interviewing a car salesman report him saying he sold the vehicle to Rios. He said she wrote and signed the checks, and then presented them to his as payment, he said in the report.Court records show a warrant for Rios arrest was signed in April 2017.One year later, she was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. DENVER — Sunday was a long day for Kathryn Coogan, who drove around the Highland neighborhood in Denver looking for Rubble, her 4-year old son's therapy dog.Rubble was apparently stolen Saturday night.The Wheat Ridge, Colorado mom had taken the 9-month-old plott hound mix to a restaurant/bar on the 2200 block of West 32nd Avenue, tying his leash to the railing out front, while she went inside to visit with friends."He was wearing a red turtleneck sweater," she said. "He had his little toy and a bone."Coogan said when she came back outside, Rubble was gone."This dog is really, really, really important to my family and my son," she said, while choking back tears. "I have a special needs little boy. He's Rubble's daddy."Coogan said they adopted Rubble when he was three months old."He was found on the side of a road with all his siblings in a box of rocks, which is why his name is Rubble," she said.Coogan said witnesses told her that a man and a woman walked by the restaurant, turned around, came back and asked whose dog that was.  She said they were told that it belonged to someone in the restaurant."They unleashed him," she said, "and started walking toward Tejon Street."Coogan said she can't help but wonder if someone thought the dog shouldn't have been out in the cold."I don't know if he took him, if he dropped him off, if he woke up and realized he stole someone's dog," she said, "or if he's trying to make a point."She said if that's the case, he didn't handle it right."If it's 100 degrees and in the car, hell yeah, break the window," she said, "but we were right here."She's pleading for Rubble's return.Coogan said she spent the day Sunday filing a police report, posting fliers in the neighborhood and searching for Rubble."I just want my dog back," she said. 1837
