RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. (KGTV) - A Fairbanks Ranch home damaged in a fire was once listed on Airbnb as a ‘mega mansion’ for rent, multiple sources show. The home in the 6800 block of Spyglass Lane caught fire Sunday night and burned for two hours until the flames were knocked down. A cleaning crew was in the home but escaped without injury. A Zillow listing for the 20,000 square foot house indicated it was on sale for almost million. It was previously available for rent for ,500 per week.“Magnificent Venetian palace in chic guard-gated Del Rayo Estates in the exclusive enclave Rancho Santa Fe, minutes from the Golf Course, Del Mar Racetrack & Beach,” the listing on Zillow reads. “In the past, the property has generated 0,000 in income from short term rentals.” RELATED: Crews knock down Fairbanks Ranch mansion fireAlthough a previous Airbnb listing was removed by Monday, an article about the most expensive U.S. rentals on farandwide.com reported the home had been available for rent as of November 2018. There was no immediate word on whether the home had been rented Sunday. “This vast property in Rancho Santa Fe is 21,000 square feet, can accommodate up to 14 guests in seven bedrooms, and has an acceptable eight and a half bathrooms,” according to the article. Other amenities listed on Zillow included a bowling alley, yoga studio, wine cellar, elevator, guest house, 3,000 square foot kitchen, tennis court, and a pool with a waterfall. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 1528

Republicans are hoping to keep control of the Senate and expand their majority in the upper chamber of Congress, while Democrats are looking to stave off losses and flip as many seats as possible as voters head to the polls in Tuesday's 2018 midterm elections.Despite a seemingly energized grassroots electorate, the Democratic Party has been viewed as a long shot to take back control of the Senate where Republicans currently hold a narrow majority of 51 seats to 49 seats for Democrats.Democrats face a daunting Senate map in the 2018 midterms and have been forced to defend 10 seats in states that President Donald Trump won in the 2016 presidential election, including North Dakota, Montana, West Virginia, Indiana and Missouri.PHOTOS: Voter turnout around the nationRepublicans do not have to defend as many vulnerable incumbents as Democrats in the midterms. Only a handful of seats are viewed as potential pickup opportunities for Democrats, with the party hoping to flip seats in closely-watched races in states such as Arizona and Nevada, as well as longer shot attempts in Tennessee and Texas. If Republicans maintain control, it will put the GOP in position to continue driving forward the President's agenda in at least one chamber of Congress. If Democrats manage to win the Senate, it would be a major setback for Republicans and a significant victory for a party that has been locked out of power in Washington since Trump won the White House.Control of the Senate will determine whether key elements of the President's agenda will be thwarted or advanced, including judicial confirmations and executive branch appointments. It will also determine whether Senate Democrats can launch investigations into controversies that have surrounded Trump while he has been in office and before he was elected, including allegations surrounding obstruction of justice, Trump's finances and potential Russian collusion. 1930

Republicans officially nominated President Donald Trump for re-election Monday during an in-person roll call vote at the Republican National Convention in Charlotte.Trump cruised to victory in the GOP primary, as is typical for an incumbent president in a re-election primary. Trump picked up nearly every available delegate in his campaign, losing just a single delegate to former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld. The roll call vote was one of the few in-person events scheduled for the four-day RNC. Prior to the pandemic, Charlotte was scheduled to host all events relating to the convention, but Trump later said he would move portions of the convention to Jacksonville, Florida, citing North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper's hesitancy to lift lockdown restrictions. Trump later canceled the Florida portions of the RNC as cases and deaths in the state spiked.Democrats held a completely virtual convention last week, which included an entirely remote roll-call vote. The nightly programming of the RNC begins on Monday evening at 8:30 p.m, with politicians and other prominent Republicans giving speeches from across the country. Monday's program will be headlined by Donald Trump Jr. and Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina). 1225

Rapper Kanye West is scheduled to have lunch with President Donald Trump at the White House today. The meeting is just the latest turn in an unexpected friendship between the former New York real estate mogul and the Chicago musician. Here is a brief history of West's outspoken support of Trump.Prior to the rise of TrumpPrior to Donald Trump's foray into politics, West has had a contentious relationship with former presidents. During a telethon to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, West famously went off-script to tell viewers that then-President George Bush "doesn't care about black people."West had a hot-and-cold relationship Bush's successor, President Barack Obama. The Chicagoan reportedly consulted with West and rapper Jay-Z during his presidential campaign in 2008. But after West infamously interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs, Obama reportedly called West a "jackass" in an off-the-record comment to ABC News reporter Terry Moran. Following the report, West said he felt "used" by Obama."I don’t care if somebody’s the president or not. I care about thoughts and how you helping people and what you bring to the world,” West said, according to Billboard.West says he would have voted for Trump, meets with him during transitionWest did not endorse either Trump or Hillary Clinton prior to the 2016 presidential election. On Nov. 17, days after Trump's victory, West told a San Jose crowd during his "Saint Pablo Tour" that he did not vote, but if he did, he "would have voted for Trump." West cited Trump's speaking style as the reason for his support. 1663
