Both of those figures are the most recorded in any country throughout the world.In addition to rising case numbers, the U.S. is also experiencing a spike in hospitalizations linked to the virus. COVID-19 daily deaths have held fairly steady in recent months since a slight uptick in the summer.The surge in cases comes as Americans head to the polls for the 2020 election — and Pew Research polling shows that more than half of Americans believe the pandemic is a "very important" issue that will affect their vote. However, the importance of COVID-19 seems to break down among party lines — 82% of Democrats consider the pandemic to be an important issue, while just 24% of Republicans believe it to be important.Despite rising case numbers and hospitalization rates, President Donald Trump has insisted that the U.S. is "rounding the corner" on the pandemic and has touted his administration's work in the pre-production of the vaccine. He's also hinted that he intends to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci — his administration's top infectious disease expert and one of the most respected members of the White House coronavirus task force.Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has repeated that he will let science drive his decisions when it comes to the pandemic and has said he supports a mask mandate on federal property.Fauci and other top health officials believe the U.S. is in a perilous position as cases spike ahead of winter months. JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) — Hidden deep in the East County is a little-known winter wonderland. The centerpiece is a remarkable treehouse designed with a Christmas theme. It was built in 2013 in the yard of the Wellington family's Jamul yard for the Animal Planet television show "Treehouse Masters." The Wellington's daughter had heard of the show and suggested her parents apply. So she had to wait quite a few years to get her treehouse," Kathie Wellington told 10News.Originally, Kathie planned to use the home for her grandchildren and as a fun meeting spot for an organization dear to her heart: FORBS (Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas). Each year, FORBS chooses around a dozen San Diego families who are down on their luck and provide Christmas presents, each delivered on Christmas day by a Santa. The Wellington's and their daughter, Vikki, came up with the idea of using the treehouse as a fundraiser. One weekend each December, they open up the treehouse for family pictures. The fee includes professional photographs, a real bearded Santa, cookies, hot cocoa, and craft activities. Jo Grayson said she was alarmed when her son, Thatcher, came home from his middle school covered in cuts and bruises.Earlier in the day, Thatcher's teacher texted Grayson to alert her to an incident involving him. But it did nothing to prepare Grayson for what she saw hours later when Thatcher came home and she discovered the marks on his body.After she obtained surveillance video that explained the marks, she became appalled. The footage shows Thatcher, who is autistic and mostly nonverbal, being dragged down a school hallway by his teacher and the school nurse."I just don't understand how someone can do this to a child, let alone to a person with disabilities," Grayson told CNN. "I want the school district to take action and not just install cameras in every room of each school, but also train their staff accordingly so they know how to handle children with disabilities, or rough situations with children like Thatcher." 943

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (KGTV) -- Audio captured inside a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida reveals the moments a mass shooting took place. Throughout what was a live stream, shots can be heard ringing out inside the facility where the event, known as the Madden 19 Tournament, was taking place. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirmed Sunday afternoon that several people are dead, including one shooter.
