SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A severely injured horse trainer and her husband filed a lawsuit against SLR Training Center INC., the company that owns the San Luis Rey Downs Training Center in Bonsall. The nine-page complaint was filed March 18, and it focuses on the events of Dec. 7, 2017, when the Lilac Fire burned through the training facility. Martine Bellocq suffered burns to more than 60 percent of her body and lost a leg while trying to save racehorses, including her own. The court documents allege negligence on the part of the training facility. It also claims the San Luis Rey Downs facility “failed to keep a defensible space around structures.” It goes on to say “there were no fire suppression systems in place” and it “failed to have the foresight to have a means to evacuate the facility, or an emergency plan in place.” Bellocq’s attorney says her medical bills are racking up, currently in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The attorney says the lawsuit is to recoup economic damages, resulting from injuries and the impact on her life. San Luis Rey Downs declined to give 10News a comment regarding the lawsuit. 1140

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Amid the Red Flag conditions, some warnings of possible power shutoffs caught some by surprise in Torrey Highlands.Terrie Rollins has lived at her home on Caminito Vistana for nearly 20 years. On Wednesday night, for the first time ever, she received an email from SDG&E warning of a possible shutoff."Confusion, worry. Wondering how I'm going to get everything done," said Rollins.Rollins's husband suffers asthma and requires an air purifier in the home. Rollins herself lives with a lung condition and needs to plug in a nebulizer for half an hour every day to clear her lungs."Didn't sleep much last night wondering what's going to happen," said Rollins.Rollins says a hotel is costly and is concerned no hotel will accept her two dogs and parrot. Amid mounting wildfire costs and liability for utilities across the state, SDG&E - armed with high-tech tools - continue to become more proactive with wildfire prevention. That has translating into more widespread shutoff warnings. Rollins fears the shutoff warnings could be her 'new normal.’"Every time there are high winds, do I have to get a hotel? "Everlasting Love" singer Robert Knight died over the weekend at his Tennessee home, TMZ reported.He was 72 years old and had been fighting illness, TMZ reported. "Everlasting Love" was a 1967 hit.
