Leasing, rather than buying a car, isn’t for everyone. But it’s the smart choice if you’re thinking about getting an electric car.Leasing is growing in popularity — now making up almost 30% of all new car sales. But when it comes to electric vehicles, 80% are leased, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. (This excludes cars made by Tesla, which sells directly to consumers and doesn’t report lease data.)For these ever-evolving vehicles, leasing is an especially well-suited way to finance one. Here are five reasons experts say leasing your EV is the best way to roll.1. You can get tech upgrades faster 639

Like most teachers nearing the end of the school year, Kelsea Hindley’s days are spent grading online tests and making sure her students have completed all of their assignments for the year. But for this 28-year-old high school French teacher, the end of this school year also marks the beginning of her first summer vacation as a survivor of COVID-19.Hindley was only the second person in the state of Massachusetts, where she lives, to be diagnosed with the virus earlier this year. It was a harrowing experience, not just because of the symptoms she was dealing with, but because of the stalking she said she received from local news media. In the early stages of the outbreak, her case brought with it a wave of fear and uncertainty she had never experienced before in her life. Some people, who she had never met, took to social media, saying she should leave town because they thought she might spread the novel coronavirus, even though she was quarantined at home.“My anxiety level has never been that high in my life,” she recalled. “I felt so bad. I felt like I had done something to people.”Hindley believes she more than likely contracted the virus while on a school trip to Europe with her students back in February. They had left the country weeks before top health officials had even begun to discuss the possibility of stay-at-home orders.Hesitant to tell her story at first, she is now speaking out in hopes of connecting with other COVID-19 survivors, who might be experiencing the same kind of survivors guilt as her.“Unless you’ve been sick, you don’t understand how it feels. It just feels extremely isolating,” she said about having the virus. “Don’t hold this against people just because they get sick.”Months after first getting sick, the social media attacks have all but died down. She hopes other Americans see her case and have empathy for the thousands of others who are dealing with the virus.“I want people to look at people like me and see that we do get better,” she said. “Just because I got sick doesn’t mean you have to treat me any differently than anyone else.” 2104

LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) — A local favorite among beer fans, Amplified Ale Works is expanding its brews eastward. The brewery announced plans to open a production facility in Lemon Grove, inside the historic Sonka Brothers general store building at 3308 Main St., most recently occupied by Lemon Grove Bakery.“We’re looking to open up to our fans, the craft beer community, local music supporters, and Lemon Grove residents the opportunity to have a true investment in a business they can also have an emotional investment in,” Alex Pierson, owner of Amplified Ale Works, said in a release.RELATED: Craft beer scene brewing in Chula VistaAmplified says the facility will have the capacity to brew up to 10,000 barrels annually, which about five times its current production level. The brewery hopes the facility fulfills needs of future Amplified beer gardens and canning. The location, Amplified's third beer garden, will also host live music and food trucks. To help fund the new location, the brewery is asking for crowdfunding, similar to a GoFundMe or Kickstarter campaign. “We wanted to offer a real way for our fans and community to be a part of what they have helped create over the past decade and be an integral part of our future as well,” said Pierson.RELATED: San Diego craft beer study shows craft brewery, economic impact growthPierson added that the brewery intends to institute an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, which offers equity and shares of the business to long-term employees. The investment term may sound familiar to some. In 2017, San Diego brewery Modern Times became the first employee-owned brewery in California after it adopted an ESO model.Amplified Ale Works has locations in Miramar, Pacific Beach, and East Village. 1757

LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) - Eleven months of waiting and one month of planning led to the moment that brought everyone in the Mount Vernon Preschool classroom to tears.Private First Class in the Army National Guard Brian Salazar served his first deployment in Qatar. He's a combat engineer based out of National City. His wife Krystal painstakingly planned a reunion in their 4-year-old daughter's classroom, to surprise her. Brian's parents, among other family were inside too.His mother, Maria Salazar, said in Spanish she thought of him every time she went to sleep, every time she ate and wondered if he ate or not, if he was suffering or not, these thoughts constantly ran through her mind."I did have those moments where I really missed him and I'd cry myself to sleep knowing that he wasn't there," Krystal said.Brian was focused on his little girl Annabel, "hopefully she's as excited to see me as I am her," he said minutes before walking through the door. His mom saw him first, letting out a joyful laugh and bursting to tears. It took Annabel a few seconds to realize what was happening, soon as she realized the man in the camouflage uniform was her dad, she ran and jumped over classmates to get to him. They collapsed into a group hug and sobbed with joy.The embrace lasting minutes as they held firmly to him, affirming to themselves he's truly home. The first words came from Annabel. He asked if she missed him and she squeaked out a quiet response echoing his words. The emotion bringing everyone in the classroom to applaud.Annabel showed her dad she made an art project of a soldier who mirrored him. When asked, she told him she wanted to go with him to Legoland. 1693
