The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road was an initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 to revive the ancient trade routes that span Asia, Africa and Europe.

The first World Forum on Ecosystem Governance, held on Sunday, was co-hosted by the IUCN, the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management, the Chinese State Forestry Administration, and the Beijing Municipal Government.
