The man convicted of killing his pregnant wife and two young daughters in Colorado is likely now in the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. According to media reports, including Radar Online, Chris Watts, 33, was transferred to Dodge County Correctional Institution last week. Watts eventually confessed to killing his pregnant wife and two young daughters in August. He took a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. He was sentenced to five life sentences. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections would not confirm whether Watts is in its custody but released the following statement: "The Department of Corrections is not confirming the location or disclosing the identity of inmates who may have been transferred to Wisconsin under the Interstate Corrections Compact. Questions should be referred to the state correctional agency which transferred the inmate."On the Wisconsin Department of Corrections website, there is a link to send money to inmates. A Chris Watts, with the same date of birth, is listed on the Wisconsin DOC commissary listing. The site only lists Watts as being in the Wisconsin DOC, however, Radar Online says he is specifically being held at the Dodge County Correctional Institution.Dodge County Correctional Institution is the same prison where other notorious killers like Ed Gein, the man who inspired the movie Psycho, have been held. "I'm not able to confirm any information regarding the possible location of inmate Christopher Watts," a Dodge County Correctional Institution spokesperson said.According to the Colorado Department of Corrections, high-profile prisoners can be moved to another state's system for safety reasons under the Interstate Compact. The pandemic has resulted in a major increase in donated items, so the selection at stores like Goodwill is better than ever before.Families that are trying to make ends meet are benefiting a lot from this surge in donations."It’s not just a little bit. It’s carloads of donations," said Goodwill store manager Sarah Guthrie. "It’s just been crazy. Donation after donation. The first weekend I was here, we did over 1,000 donations between Saturday and Sunday. It's about a car for every 12 seconds."Guthrie has been store manager at the Castle Rock, Colorado, Goodwill location for about a month and a half. She's seen the same thing just about every day since."Right now, our donation center starts at 10 a.m., but starting around 9:15 or so, we start getting cars in our line and a lot of times it’ll wrap all the way around the building and into the street," said Guthrie.They see car after car of people dropping off bags of things they no longer need."Spring cleaning has taken on a whole new meaning this year," said Goodwill Industries International CEO Steve Preston.He says this isn’t just unique to this one store. Donations are up across the country where stores are open, which means now is the time to go shopping for a bargain."That is the logical connection. So, when we get a lot of great donations coming in, it is a super time to hit the store because our category is called “Treasure Hunting”, category in retail, and there are just a ton of treasures in there because so many people have been bringing in those donations," said Preston.Some stores are seeing an increase of up to 50% in donations, and they’re having a hard time storing it in their stores."Many of our local stores are renting additional warehouse space. They’re finding trucks to be able to hold those donations," said Preston.Which is the case back at Guthrie’s store."We store what we can here in the store. We process what we can here in the store. But, a lot of what we get in through our donation line actually goes to our warehouses," said Guthrie.More donations mean selling more goods, which turns into more job training for people who are now finding themselves unemployed. 2179

The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast in Florida takes in plenty of stray cats, many of which are either lost or in need of a loving home."Let me tell you, this is why I love working here," said volunteer program coordinator Sarah Fisher.Two weeks ago, an orange tabby cat showed up at the center."He was just found on the street, he was brought in," she said. "He had fleas, he was skinny."The cat had a microchip and it turned out he'd been missing for a very long."It's amazing," said Fisher. "It's unheard of."That's when Perry Martin -- a retired Fort Pierce K9 officer -- got the call from his veterinarian's office."They said, 'Perry what would you do if we told you that T2 was alive?' And I said, 'I'd probably tell you you're crazy because he died a long long time ago!'"Martin adopted Thomas Jr., also known as T2, back in 2002."He was a stray. Just kind of showed up," he said. "Took him to the vet, gave him his shots and that's when he got his microchip."He had him for a couple of years until the cat escaped during the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne in 2004."People didn't have air conditioning, so as time went on people left their windows and screens open," he said. "I was staying in Stuart at the time and he slipped out."Martin was fearful that T2 had possibly been hit by a car on a nearby highway."I filed a report with the Humane Society, in case animal control picked him up," he said. "He had a microchip and I thought someone would just call me if they found him."But he never thought it would take 14 years for that to happen."My vet even listed him as deceased," Martin said.When Martin was reunited with T2, it was like seeing a ghost.“As soon as I looked at that face, I knew exactly who he was. A little bit older, kind of like me," he said. "I'm convinced he had to have had somebody bring him into their house. He must have been part of somebody's family and maybe he got out. I just can't see him living wild in the area I figured he would be."The Humane Society said T2's journey shows the importance of micro-chipping and keeping it updated."The microchip wasn't updated and it was an old phone number. We were able to track down the original owner," said Fisher."The national average for cats that get reunited with their owners -- is only two percent. The majority of them, they don't get microchipped. For dogs, it's 20 percent," Fisher added.Martin said he hopes others will think about microchipping their pets and updating their information ahead of hurricane season this year."Just update your information, your alternate information and your vet's information. They'll scan them and hopefully you'll get your pet back. You never know," he said.T2 is now about 18 years old and is weak, but eating well."Since he got home, he's eating, he's drinking, he's moving around," Martin said.Martin now helps train service dogs and recently added a new addition to the household with Sassy, the golden retriever. He said Sassy is gentle with T2, as he lives out the rest of his days with a new friend and an old friend."He had an opportunity to come home, spend time with his family and be on a good note when he passes," Martin said. "Until that day, he'll be spoiled like he was before he left." 3273
