Former Vice President Joe Biden canceled a planned appearance in Illinois this week because he is sick and "under doctor's orders not to travel," according to state Democrats."Everyone who knows Vice President Biden knows that he gives our party and our country his all, but unfortunately he is sick and is under doctor's orders not to travel," Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association President Doug House said in a statement posted to Facebook Tuesday night.Biden, 75, was scheduled as a keynote speaker for the Illinois Democrats County Chairs' Association brunch in Springfield, Illinois. (KGTV) -- A Fresno man accidentally lit his parents' home on fire while trying to kill spiders with a blowtorch, according to KGO.The fire happened Tuesday night at a house in the Woodward Lake housing development while the man was reportedly house sitting for his parents. A total of 29 firefighters responded to the home. Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel is slated to take his talents north of the border, as Manziel announced on Saturday he has signed a contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. Manziel has faced challenges both on and off the football field since winning the 2012 Heisman Trophy. In 2016, Manziel was charged with domestic violence. Those charges were later dismissed. Also in 2016, Manziel was suspended for four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.After an impressive collegiate stint at Texas A&M, Manziel's football career quickly flamed out. Manziel hasn't played professional football since 2015, when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns. Over two seasons, Manziel played in 15 games, and threw seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. "I don't want to wait around any more," Manziel said on Saturday. "I want to get on the field and get in the locker room and get a chance to play ball again. This is the best opportunity for me." Manziel said he is grateful for a second chance at professional football. Manziel is expected not to start at quarterback Hamilton, coach June Jones said. He will compete for the backup job behind former Oregon star Jeremiah Masoli. "Johnny is going to be a competitive player in this league," Jones said. FORT WORTH, Texas — The Boeing 737 Max might be flying over the East Coast before year end.All Max jets around the world have been grounded since early 2019 after two deadly crashes.American Airlines says it plans to operate one Max flight a day from Dec. 29 through Jan. 4 between Miami and New York. American is still considering how much it will use the plane after that.The airline says it will begin selling the flights on Friday.Federal regulators are currently reviewing Boeing's changes to the plane.
