SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Caltrans is warning drivers that a portion of northbound SR-125 will close Sunday.According to Caltrans, northbound SR-125 will close from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between SR-905 and Birch Road.The north and southbound shoulder bike lane between SR-905 and Birch Road will also close between the same hours.According to Caltrans, the closure is for the testing of new technology, though the agency didn’t specify what technology it will be testing. 468

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating a man's death after they say he died following a fight. Police were called to the 5600 block of Imperial Avenue in Valencia Park around 1:12 p.m. after receiving reports of a man having chest pains. After arriving, the 51-year-old man -- identified as San Diego resident Joseph Ives -- was taken to the hospital where he later died.Police later learned that Ives got into a fight shortly before his death. According to police, after an altercation with another man, Ives told a witness that he was experiencing chest pains. Ives "did not have any obvious signs of trauma to his body," police said. Out of caution, San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the death.  773

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — At least three large sharks were spotted off the coast of Torrey Pines State Beach swimming close to surfers in the water on Thursday.California State Parks Lifeguards say they received reports of five sharks swimming about 50 feet from shore and 100 to 200 yards from Lifeguards Tower 1 at about 12 p.m. The sharks were seen specifically gliding around the Flat Rock area, located north of Black's Beach and south of Torrey Pines State Beach, according to a State Parks spokesperson.Sky10 was overhead as the sharks swam nearby surfers who were just offshore of Torrey Pines:Officials say the largest of the sharks, which may have been great white sharks, was about 10 feet in length."The sharks did not interact with any beachgoers during this time. The shark actions are considered non-aggressive and consistent with normal white shark behavior," a State Parks spokesperson said.A San Diego Fire-Rescue Lifeguard made announcements to people in the water about the sighting. Announcements were being made in the area up to one mile south of Bathtub Rock, SDFD spokeswoman Monica Mu?oz said.Shark sighting signs would remain up in the area for 24 hours, officials said. 1198

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities have identified the sailor who died after being struck by a spinning helicopter blade as 32-year-old Lt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities Tuesday identified the man killed during a Jet Ski crash over the weekend.According to the San Diego County medical examiner, 21-year-old Darius Kennedy died after a boat struck his Jet Ski.The medical examiner says he disappeared under water but emerged. People in the water helped Kennedy, who was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and torso. He later died.The crash happened near the north end of Ski Beach around 6:30 Saturday.The driver of the boat that crashed into the Jet Ski was questioned and the boat taken in for evidence. The name of the boat driver hasn’t been released. 638
