SHENZHEN, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Attendees to the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) political parties forum have agreed on more exchanges and cooperation to promote regional development and peace.
Li's visit to Japan is the first by a Chinese premier in eight years, coinciding with the 40th anniversary this year of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship.
At a joint panel discussion with political advisors in March, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, had called the system "a new type of party system growing from China's soil" and "a great contribution to the political civilization of humanity."
The international situation has undergone profound and complicated changes, while countries are becoming more interdependent and no country can stand aloof, said Xi.
Xi said the two sides should take this as a new starting point to actively expand practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, thus providing strong impetus for sustained and stable development of bilateral relations.
