He's had 11 seizures but says he would serve all over again if asked.“I kept wanting to serve, I don’t know, I just felt like I was doing something for the country, it’s hard to understand, but you get a fulfillment out of serving somebody," said Thompson.He says he's grateful for those who served before him and those serving now.Col. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The relatives of a toddler who died from E. Coli he contracted from San Diego County Fair animals held a fundraiser for his parents Saturday night. The benefit to help the family of 2-year-old Jedidiah King Cabezuela started at 4 p.m. at Rosie O’Grady’s restaurant in Normal Heights. Jedidiah’s great uncle Ed Sanford told 10News the boy suffered stomach problems four days after visiting the fair despite washing his hands after visiting the petting zoo. Over the next three days, Jedidiah was in and out of the emergency room before the symptoms worsened. His kidneys began failing, and he died June 24. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego region needs to develop new housing units at a pace not seen since before the housing bubble burst to meet the demand.A new report from the San Diego Association of Governments says the region needs to add about 171,000 new houses, condos and apartments by 2029, based on a state projection of population growth. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The owners of a Webster-area restaurant that has been broken into in recent days decided to set up their own overnight sting operation, and their plan led to two arrests.At around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, the owners of Trevi Ristorante on 4703 Federal Blvd., put together their own stakeout and waited for anyone who would try to break into the business.The restaurant had been burglarized three times in the past week, including one incident in which a safe was taken. Jonathan Romero, the owners’s son, told ABC 10News, “We’re tired of it.”While the owner remained on the roof, his son waited across the street and a family friend watched from behind the eatery.After several hours, they noticed an SUV park in an alley behind the restaurant and two men get out of the vehicle.As the family observed the two people go through gates to the restaurant’s back doors, the owner’s son called 911.San Diego police officers arrived at the scene and took one of the would-be burglars into custody.However, the other man climbed up the side of the building and ran across the roof. After jumping from the roof down to the front parking lot, the man ran away as officers pursued him.The man was able to cross Federal Boulevard, but officers deployed a stun gun and subdued him.The stunned man was treated at the scene for his injuries and is expected to be OK. 1373

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The trial for a former San Diego County sheriff's deputy accused of sexual misconduct while wearing his uniform began Monday in Vista.More than a dozen women claim Deputy Richard Fischer made unwanted advances."I think he's a bad guy," a San Marcos woman, who filed ,000,000 claim against the County, said.She said in August of 2017 two sheriff's deputies knocked on her door in the middle of the night for a welfare check. There was no problem and they left but she said Fischer returned alone an hour later, saying he needed to use her restroom; then told her she was cute and hugged her, several times."I was stunned shocked, it was very fast and confusing...I felt very vulnerable, intimidated, felt weak. I felt little." She said, next to tears. "It's just a mess! Everything is a mess! This is hard to do. He shouldn't have come back to my house and I don't ... Everything's a mess!"Similar instances were described by other women. In October of 2017, near the entryway of a 64-year-old woman's condo, Fischer took her report for a domestic violence incident and then made his move."His hands went all the way down to her butt and he squeezed both of her buttocks... he took her hand and pulled it down to his groin area," Lawyer Dan Gilleon said. He represents several women who filed claims against Fischer.Gilleon made a theme apparent, "he knows that she's alone, and she's vulnerable, and she's scared." Another victim called him a predator.Some women who came forward claim Fischer became more brazen, forcing sexual acts.Wednesday a plea deal fell through. The deal would mean Fischer would plead guilty to four felony charges -- down from more than 12 felonies -- and serve no more than five years in prison.10News learned that Fischer would also have to register as a sex offender for life under the plea deal.Fischer faces more than 25 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
