A man shot by a Cuyahoga County, Ohio Sheriff's deputy near Cleveland on I-90 on Thursday has died.The medical examiner identified the man as Brett Luengo, 33, of Westlake, Ohio. He was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was treated, expired and pronounced dead last night. Luengo was a prominent businessman who was the CEO and Vice President of ConstructAbility Inc., a construction services firm in Westlake.The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce awarded ConstructAbility with an award in 2017.The shooting took place along Interstate 90 near West Boulevard Thursday evening.The scene led to a major police presence and traffic back-up in the eastbound lanes between West 44th Street and West Boulevard.The deputy involved was not injured.Witnesses say the incident started after a single-vehicle crash. The driver then got out of the SUV and was acting both erratically and violently to those trying to help him. Authorities say he was involved in an altercation when the deputy exited his own vehicle. When the deputy approached, the sheriff said Luengo "charged (the deputy) in an aggressive manner.""He kept screaming to shoot him. The cop kept asking him to roll over, put your hands behind your back. The man was not cooperating. He kept trying to get up and attack the police officer, he kept lunging at him," witness Jason Geiger said. "I think what happened at that point he ran out of taser cartridges because at that point he shot the guy."Authorities say the deputy fired one shot. A drug used to treat type 2 diabetes and designed to lower glucose levels is being recalled because the manufacturer found it contained high levels of a cancer-causing agent.Marksans Pharma Limited is recalling metformin hydrochloride extended-release tablets because levels of NDMA were higher than the acceptable daily intake limit, according to a release from the Food and Drug Administration.The release says the company has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall at this time.NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen, a substance that could cause cancer, based on results from laboratory tests. It’s a known environmental contaminant “found in water and foods, including meats, dairy products and vegetables,” according to the FDA.”These tablets are used in addition to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. A bus crash early Monday killed one child and wounded 40 other people, most of them children, on Interstate 30 west of Benton, Arkansas State Police said.The charter bus, which was carrying a youth football team home from a championship game it played over the weekend, was traveling from Texas to Memphis, Tennessee, when it left the road and turned over, police said. Authorities received a call around 2:40 a.m. (3:40 ET) and found the bus on its side near the Hot Springs exit on I-30.The children were between 8 and 10 years old and had chaperones accompanying them on the bus, state police spokesman Bill Sadler said."When troopers arrived at the scene, many of the children were already off of the bus," Sadler said. "Some of them were stunned or had minor injuries."The injured were transported to hospitals in Benton and in Little Rock, about 25 miles northeast of Benton. Two victims had to be airlifted, Sadler said.It does not appear that weather played any role in the crash, he said. A body found in Costa Rica has been identified as a Florida woman who went missing while she was on vacation, according to her family. The father and brother of Carla Stefaniak identified the body as the 36-year-old Tuesday night.During an exclusive interview with WFTS, Stefaniak's father, Carlos, said his heart shattered when he saw her body.Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) said an autopsy performed on her body showed that she had stab wounds around the neck and extremities and blunt-force trauma to the head.Family friend, Greg Zwolinsky, who is with them in Costa Rica, said he wants everyone to remember Stefaniak based on the radiance of her personality that is portrayed in pictures of her smiling. 783
