SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man and teen were shot in Linda Vista early Friday while visiting the memorial of another local gunshot victim.San Diego Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 6500 block of Kelly Street at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Several witnesses at the scene told officers a man who had been shot was taken in a vehicle that fled the scene.Numerous bullet casings were found in the area.RELATED: Suspect arrested in Linda Vista shooting that left teen deadOfficers headed to Sharp Memorial Hospital to check for a gunshot victim, where they found two men who had been shot. One victim, a 20-year-old Hispanic man, had been shot in the leg and the other victim, a 15-year-old Hispanic male, suffered two gunshot wounds to the buttocks area and one to the leg.Both victim's injuries were considered non life-threatening. Both were uncooperative with police and no suspect information was available, police added.An officer at the scene told 10News the two victims were visiting a memorial set up for 16-year-old Carlos Valdovinos, who was gunned down in the same area in late May. According to caring.com, San Diego ranks 159th out of 302 cities nationally for best and worst cities for seniors. San Diego ranked high on the list when it comes to quality of life, ranking 94th out of the 302 cities. Some areas where San Diego ranked lower include healthcare,180th out of 302 and affordability, placing 194th out of 302. In California, San Diego ranked fairly low, coming in at 45th among 75 cities. The best cities in The Golden State for seniors are San Francisco, Woodland Hills, Santa Monica and Burlingame. Nationally, San Francisco also took the top spot, followed by Fredericksburg, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Boston Massachusetts. Caring.com rated the cities using data on healthcare, housing options, community engagement, transportation, quality of life and workforce development. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was fatally shot by San Diego Police as officers responded to calls of vandalism in the Mountain View neighborhood early Monday morning.According to police, officers were called to the 300 block of South Pardee Street just before 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of “a violent disturbance involving a weapon.”Residents at the home were woken up by a man they say ripped a metal curtain rod from the window and began breaking windows and other objects.“Fearing for their safety, they asked another resident to call 911. A neighbor also heard the commotion and called 911 reporting it sounded like someone was being tortured,” police said.When officers arrived, police say they gave the man directions in English and Spanish but received no response. According to police, that’s when the man crawled through a broken window before running towards officers with a metal pole.“Fearing for their safety, one officer fired a bean bag round, one officer fired a Taser, and one officer fired several rounds from his service pistol. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego was suspended Tuesday as church officials investigate allegations of sexual misconduct with a girl in the 1990s.Father Justin Langille, 65, initially faced the claim in the mid-1990s for an act which allegedly occurred with a female teenager earlier in the decade, according to a news release from the diocese.The case was examined in 1995 and 2002, but the diocese concluded that the allegation was unsubstantiated after Langille passed a polygraph test, church officials said.Last month, the case was brought before the diocese’s Independent Review Board as part of its process to review files about the sexual abuse of minors by clergy.“I felt strongly that even older, previously decided cases involving currently serving priests would benefit from being examined by the Independent Review Board,” said Bp. McElroy. “The voice of the laity needs to be heard on these matters and the independent board, with members that include attorneys, criminal investigators, psychologists and a clergy abuse victim, provides the diocese with exceptionally valuable guidance and expertise.”An investigator revealed significant new information that substantially undermined the credibility of Langille’s denials, the diocese said. Church officials did not provide details about the information.The diocese spokesperson did not have information about whether San Diego Police had been contacted.If the Independent Review Board determines the accusation is not credible, Langille may be returned to ministry, according to the diocese.Langille has not had a full-time assignment in the diocese since 2013, officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego businessman pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges of bank fraud and tax evasion in connection with failing to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in income and fraudulently obtaining a mortgage.David Daughtrey, 60, of El Cajon, admitted to evading taxes by failing to report 8,612 of income to the IRS and also fraudulently obtaining a mortgage for his .8 million home using a third party, U.S. District Attorney officials said.As part of his plea agreement, Daughtrey will pay ,016,457.91 in restitution to the IRS. As part of the fraud scheme, he directed another person to submit a mortgage application to Wells Fargo to buy a .8 million five-bedroom home, officials say, and falsely claim that the fund used as a down payment belonged to a third party and the third party would be the primary homeowner.In reality, Daughtrey provided the funds and the house was intended to be his primary residence. He later submitted a false hardship letter on behalf of the third party to get the bank to modify the terms of the home loan, officials added.He also admitted that over several years, he and his spouse, who is not charged in the case, conspired to falsely report total income in tax years 2012 through 2015. Officials say in 2012, Daughtrey omitted at least 8,612 in income and the IRA tax loss for years 2012-2014 was 6,536. "Our nation’s tax system funds critical infrastructures and vital programs, including supporting our citizens and small businesses during the ongoing pandemic," said Ryan L. Korner, Special Agent in Charge, IRS Criminal Investigation. "Honest Americans’ compliance with the tax laws is imperative.
