atThe NFL's TV ratings are down so far this season and if that news isn't distressing enough for the biggest ratings driver on TV, the lest slump follows a 2016 season marked by unstable ratings that had pundits and analysts scratching their heads. So is it time for the league and its TV partners to panic once again? The answer is that it's simply too early to tell.Brian Hughes, a senior vice president at Magna, which monitors audience trends, believes Hurricane Irma impacted viewership during the NFL's first week. There's also not enough of a sample size of games to make an true assessment of the league's viewership so far, he said. But the ratings slump could also be a sign of disruptive media trends on the horizon. 733

ATLANTA — Typically voters in other states don't typically pay attention to elections in other states. But that is not the case with the Jan. 5 Georgia runoff with control of the United States Senate on the line. WHAT'S AT STAKE Two Senate seats are up for grabs. Currently, Republicans control both of them and if they win reelection in one of them they will control the Senate for the next two years. If Democrats sweep both races, Democrats will control the Senate for two years. The outcome will determine how much political power President-elect Joe Biden has. Having control of the Senate would give Biden more ability to confirm nominees and pass progressive bills, which includes COVID economic relief. EARLY VOTING On Monday, early voting got underway with thousands casting their ballot in Georgia. 816

BAKERSFIELD, California — Several students from East Bakersfield High School were arrested on Thursday after two fights broke out on campus, according to the Kern High School District. The two fights were unrelated, according to KHSD spokesperson Lisa Krch. Seven students were arrested by KHSD Police. One fight was recorded and the behavior shown is "clearly unacceptable," Krch said.A graphic video has been circulating social media that appears to show a student being jumped and assaulted by a group of other students. The post claims the student suffered a broken neck and was hospitalized, but that has not been confirmed by KHSD. KHSD cannot confirm that video is one of the fights that happened Thursday.KHSD said the incident has been investigated and appropriate student discipline will be implemented. The district cannot comment on student discipline due to FERPA laws protecting the individual right of students, Krch said. 978

As one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, Stonehenge still holds many secrets despite centuries of study. For the first time, new research is lifting the veil on the people who are buried at Stonehenge. The study was published in the journal Scientific Reports on Thursday.Much of the previous research around the monument in Wiltshire, England, has centered around how or why Stonehenge was built -- not the people buried there or who built it.But studying the human remains at Stonehenge is no easy task. In addition to dating back to 3,000 BC, the remains were also cremated. During the early phase of Stonehenge's history, it largely served as a cemetery.Fortunately, lead study author Christophe Snoeck, post-doctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, combined his passions for archeology and chemical engineering to pioneer developments in archaeological analysis. The results revealed that 40% of the people buried at Stonehenge likely came from west Wales, the suggested origin of the site's smaller bluestones, and they most likely helped transport the stones and build Stonehenge. Signals from the bone analysis suggested that within the last ten years of their lives, these people were not living at Stonehenge nor originally from the area around Stonehenge, known as the Wessex region."Our results are the first one to provide direct evidence on the origin of those buried at Stonehenge, shedding light on the importance of the site in the Neolithic landscape," Snoeck said in an email. 1531
