Two young brothers in Peoria, Arizona, are hoping to bring smiles to COVID-19 patients by sending homemade cards to Valley hospitals.Hurshneet and Pravneet Chadha said they created "Project Smile AZ" to spread positivity. They got the idea after listening to their parents, who are both doctors, speak about COVID-19 patients going through treatment alone in hospitals."We wanted to make them feel accompanied on their journey to get better," said 15-year-old Hurshneet. "We want to make sure everyone is fine, and we want to make sure everyone is happy."When they started, they delivered 150 cards to Banner Health. The response was so great that they decided to keep going."We've had many people reach out to us to send cards to our PO box, as well as hospital CEOs have reached out to us, sending us thank you letters to our email so that made us very proud," he said.Now, they've distributed 1,200 cards to the Navajo Nation, Circle the City, a nonprofit, and several hospitals in the Valley."It helps the patients when we give it to them, and they're saying they put a smile on their faces when they receive them as well, so that's my favorite part," said 12-year-old Pravneet.Through social media, they've gotten classmates and other groups to donate cards, but they make most of them in their living room."We come up with anything that we think would inspire the patient," said Hurshneet. United Airlines announced Wednesday plans to return 25,000 flights systemwide during the month of August in hopes that more people will resume traveling. Despite the massive number of flights being added to the schedule, United said that it will only run 40% of the number of flights it ran in 2019 in August.Domestically, United plans on adding 600 flights, meaning it will run 48% of its US flights in August. United projects that only 30% of US flights will fly in July compared to 2019."We're taking the same data-driven, realistic approach to growing our schedule as we did in drawing it down at the start of the pandemic," said Ankit Gupta, United's vice president of Domestic Network Planning. "Demand is coming back slowly and we're building in enough capacity to stay ahead of the number of people traveling. And we're adding in flights to places we know customers want to travel to, like outdoor recreation destinations where social distancing is easier but doing so in a way that's flexible and allows us to adjust should that demand change."On Tuesday, Delta announced the addition of 1,000 flights systemwide in July. Two Democrats leading the rebellion against Nancy Pelosi were bullish Tuesday evening about their efforts to stop her from winning the speakership, promising to soon reveal that they had enough support to cause a major shake-up at the top of their caucus.The Democrats, Reps. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and Filemon Vela of Texas, contended that their private conversations revealed that Pelosi would soon learn that she lacked backing within the full House to be elected speaker next year -- despite her confidence that she would lock down the necessary support."I am 100% confident we can forge new leadership," Vela told CNN.Asked how confident they were that they could defeat Pelosi, Moulton also said: "100%."The Pelosi detractors are circulating a letter and trying to accumulate enough signatures to showcase the breadth of the Democratic opposition to Pelosi. The strategy is this: Show that the California Democrat lacks support after new and current members commit to voting for another candidate on the floor. At that point, they hope, Pelosi will see the writing on the wall, step aside and allow new candidates for the speakership to emerge."We are trying to do the right thing for the party by solving this ahead of time," Moulton said.The goal, they said, is to release their letter as soon as this week or at least before the Nov. 28 leadership elections in the House Democratic Caucus.
