Four people were killed and several others were wounded when a gunman opened fire in a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee.The mass shooting happened around 3:25 a.m. Sunday at 3571 Murfreesboro Pike near Hobson Pike.Metro Nashville Police Department officials named 29-year-old Travis Reinking, from Illinois, as a person of interest in the shooting, saying the vehicle the gunman used was registered to him.He has since been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Top 10 Most Wanted list. Reports from the TBI described him as standing around 6'4'' tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous.A ,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Police said Reinking drove his pickup truck into the Waffle House parking lot around 3:18 a.m.. He sat in the truck for a few minutes before getting out and immediately shooting and killing two people outside of the restaurant with an AR-15 rifle.Officers said he then went inside and shot and killed another victim.Those three victims have been identified. Taurean C. Sanderlin, age 29 of Goodlettsville. He was an employee of the restaurant who was killed as he stood outside. Also killed outside was 20-year-old Joe R. Perez, of Nashville, who was a patron of the restaurant.The third death at the scene was 21-year-old Deebony Groves, of Gallatin. She was killed inside the restaurant.Police confirmed 23-year-old Akilah Dasilva, of Antioch, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being injured inside the restaurant. A friend confirmed to NewsChannel 5 that Dasilva was a local musician who went by the nickname "Natrix."Two other victims were wounded by gunfire. They have been identified as 21-year-old Shanita Waggoner, of Nashville, and 24-year-old Sharita Hnderson, of Antioch.When the gunshots rang out, a patron ran to the restrooms. He was watching the gunman and rushed at him when he saw the gunman look down and fidget with the gun.The 29-year-old male patron wrestled the AR-15 away from the gunman. The patron suffered an elbow injury and other abrasions. He was taken to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center and has since been released.Police said six of the eight people injured were shot.Witnesses said he was nude wearing only a green jacket and got away on foot after the patron took him down.  2424

Firefighters went door-to-door urging some residents of Leilani Estates to leave as lava from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano moved closer, once again."Any residents remaining in the current affected areas should evacuate now," read an emergency message sent by the County of Hawaii Civil Defense.Thick waves of fresh lava from fissure 22 and 7 -- which officials say is producing the largest amount of lava -- are blazing down a mount of volcanic rock."It's just a matter of time," resident Steve Gebbie says. "I don't know what's going to be left of Leilani, I really think it might be wiped out."This week, eruptions sent ash plume 10,000 feet up in the air. More red and orange lava fountains emerged and lava reached the Pacific Ocean, presenting a new threat for residents.The oozing lava has destroyed a total of 82 structures on Hawaii's Big Island and other 37 structures have become inaccessible in the last days, said Hawaii County Civil Defense Administrator Talmadge Magno.About 2,200 acres have been covered in lava since the Kilauea volcano eruptions began on May 3, Magno added.The US Geological Survey said there were 90 earthquakes of multiple intensities at the volcano summit in about 6 hours on Friday.  1230

Forty-four former Republican and Democratic US senators penned an op-ed for The Washington Post that warns "we are entering a dangerous period" and urges current and future senators to be "steadfast and zealous guardians of our democracy."The former senators write in the op-ed they feel an "obligation to speak up about serious challenges to the rule of law, the Constitution, our governing institutions and our national security.""We are on the eve of the conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation and the House's commencement of investigations of the President and his administration," the senators write. "The likely convergence of these two events will occur at a time when simmering regional conflicts and global power confrontations continue to threaten our security, economy and geopolitical stability."The US is at an "inflection point" the senators write, "in which the foundational principles of our democracy and our national security interests are at stake, and the rule of law and the ability of our institutions to function freely and independently must be upheld." 1124

For the first time, we are hearing from the accused Antioch church shooter. Emanuel Samson is charged with killing one and injuring six others.He's locked up, but makes calls from his cell and all of them are recorded. Nashville-based WTVF obtained an exclusive copy of those recorded calls.They provide a first look at the mindset of an accused murderer.The 25-year-old Samson is being held in the Davidson County Jail. He's said very little to police, but Samson does plenty of talking by phone."This honestly reminds me of our childhood, you know. You're locked in a room or a house. You're locked in a room. You're locked in your house," said Samson in one call, describing jail life.Samson's now spent the past month in the county jail – held without bond – and in this call he seems to be settling in."You know it's about meditating on the fact that I literally can't afford not to be strong. Period. By any means necessary," said Samson.He's made more than 140 calls in the past month, mostly collect to friends and family. It seems he's been warned by his attorney not to talk about his case, though he may at times, speaking in what sounds like his native Sudanese language.However, we did not hear Samson discuss the murder of Melanie Crow Smith or the other felony charges to come. In conversations – especially with a girlfriend – both she and Samson seem oblivious to the seriousness of the charges against him."Please dream about me baby. I dream about you every night," she said. "Aw, baby, we had so many plans for our future. You know?""And we still do. So many plans. Don't say we did because we still do," Samson told her. "I'm trying to keep my mind positive."There were reports that Samson was suicidal in the months before the shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ.In one call, Samson talked about the gunshot wound he suffered to the leg during a scuffle with the church usher. There was a lot of blood. He thought he might die."When that happened? Did you think 'this is it… that I'm leaving,'" asked his girlfriend."Yeah," said Samson."Did it feel good," she asked. "Leaving?""I just think that you… yeah? Um, in a sense. In a way. In terms of pain," said Samson.Investigators have pointed to Samson's troubled past. Samson himself talked about something he called vibrating energies – referring to a depressing childhood."That's how we have these low vibrating energies within us now. The sad. The sorrow. Because we grew up in a very low vibrating household. Always drama," said Samson.Samson also talked about everything from his favorite video games to how a friend was doing in school. Not once do you hear him tell his family or friends he did not commit the crime.The case against Samson is in the hands of the Grand Jury.
