(KGTV) — Supporters and opponents of President Donald Trump gathered at the U.S.-Mexico border in Calexico Friday, ahead of the President's tour of a section of border barrier.Before the President touched down, opponents inflated a large "Baby Trump" balloon, which has become a symbol of the President's protesters around the country, outside the Gran Plaza Outlets in Calexico.Just a few miles away, supporters donning "Make American Great Again" hats and Trump flags gathered to welcome the President to town. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — A motorcyclist was killed on Friday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a building in Carlsbad.Carlsbad Police say the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Faraday Ave. just after 3 p.m., when for unknown reasons he lost control and collided into a building.Officers arrived to find the motorcyclist unconscious. The rider, identified as a 29-year-old male from Encinitas, died at the scene.Police don't believe any other vehicles were involved and said it doesn't appear alcohol was a factor. It's unclear how fast the rider was traveling at the time of the crash.The area of Faraday Ave. and Orion Way was partially closed for the investigation but has since reopened. 728
California, get ready for nonstop flights to Hawaii on Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines announced on Thursday that four California cities will serve nonstop flights to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (HNL), Kahului Airport on Maui (OGG), Lihue Airport on Kauai (LIH), and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA). Southwest Airlines plans to fly to those Hawaiian cites from Oakland Metropolitan Airport (OAK), San Diego International Airport (SAN), Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) and Sacramento International Airport (SMF). CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - Each Monday, a group of dedicated seniors gather in their woodshop, on a mission to make the holidays a little brighter for North County kids in need. The woodworking elves of the La Costa Glen senior living community in Carlsbad have spent nearly a year creating 100 handmade toys of all shapes and sizes.The toys have up to 39 pieces, crafted with various types of wood like walnut, cherry, and mahogany. CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) — Border Patrol agents this week discovered several packages of narcotics stuffed inside a vehicle's gas tank at an East County checkpoint.The agents stopped the vehicle at a Campo border checkpoint at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. During initial questioning, a K-9 officer inspecting the vehicle alerted agents to a possible narcotics.As the K-9 officer further inspected the vehicle, the canine directed agents toward the vehicle's gas tank. Agents say they discovered 53 cellophane packages floating in the gas tank, containing about 58.6 pounds of methamphetamine worth 4,780.The driver, a 47-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested and the narcotics were turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration. As of Wednesday, Border Patrol officials say they seized more than 2,000 pounds of meth worth more than .6 million. 852
