HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested a 71-year-old Hernando County Commissioner on Thursday for allegedly hiring a prostitute and letting his home be used as a house brothel.In February, deputies were called to the home of Hernando County Commissioner Nick Nicholson because his roommates, 30-year-old Valerie Surette and 32-year-old Kendel Surette were involved in a domestic dispute.While in the home deputies found drug paraphernalia. Nicholson was home at the time and claimed to be unaware of the drugs that he said belonged to his roommates.During the investigation Kendel Surette admitted to deputies that his wife, who is a former stripper, has sex with Nicholson on Tuesdays and Saturdays in exchange for rent and food.He also told deputies Nicholson pays Valerie Surette 0 a week for the sex and allows his wife to bring “customers” into the home for sex.Following a two-month-long investigation, deputies arrested Nicholson for one count of owning a home for the purpose of prostitution and two counts of engaging in prostitution. His bond is set at ,000.A former political supporter of Nicholson’s said he is disappointed."I feel badly for Nick and his family, but as a citizen I'm angry, he's let us down," said Forrest Bennett.Hernando County Government sent out this message: "This is a personal legal matter for Mr. Nicholson; therefore, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners nor its staff, will provide a statement on this subject at this time."Scripps station WFTS in Tampa reached out to other Hernando County Commissioners for comment.Commissioner Jeff Holcomb said he asked that Nicholson step down as chairman of the commission back in 2015 when a similar issue involving a stripper was being investigated. Harvey Weinstein turned himself in to authorities Friday morning and was arrested and arraigned on charges of first- and third-degree rape and committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.The charges stem from incidents with two separate women in 2013 and 2004, the district attorney said in a statement, and were the result of a joint investigation between police and the Manhattan District Attorney's office.Weinstein's attorney Benjamin Brafman told reporters outside the courthouse that his client plans to plead not guilty to all of the charges.As part of the agreement between Brafman and the DA's office, Weinstein's bond was set at million. HELENA, MT. - About 120 soldiers arrived in Helena after a year-long deployment to the Middle East.The Montana Army National Guard 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion deployed to the Middle East in October 2019 and conducted operations throughout the Middle East like Syria and Iraq. National Guard leadership was one of the first to welcome home their soldiers.“The wind, the weather, they're coming out of Fort Hood, which is much warmer and they're stoked,” says Donald Emerson, Assistant Adjutant General for the Montana National Guard. “They're happy, doesn't matter. They're just glad to be with their families. It's great to see."In total, about 240 soldiers reunited with their families in Montana, dropping them off in airports nearest to home. The Montana National Guard dropped off their soldiers in groups of about 50 to maintain pandemic changes. Then they were led to their families, and they also received a community reunion from people outside the hangar waiting to welcome them home.“I just wanted to welcome these guys home,” says Puanani Wevers, a Helena resident. She stood outside waving an American flag as soldiers were leaving the hangar. “I mean, it's been a year that parents have, you know, not had their children home and loved ones. Garth Brooks has decided it’s someone else’s turn to win the Entertainer of the Year award from the Country Music Association Awards.The announcement came during a Facebook Live on Brooks’ page during a remote press conference.Brooks has won the award seven times."It's time for somebody else to hold the award and know what entertainer of the year feels like," he said.He said after last year’s CMA ceremony, there was one tweet that really stuck with him."It said, 'Why doesn't he step down and have entertainer of the year be for the next generation’.
