EL CAJON (KGTV and wire reports) - El Cajon police are investigating the shooting death of a man that resulted following an argument along a busy street Thursday.Police said gunfire erupted in the 1400 block of East Main Street in El Cajon shortly before 9:30 a.m., about a mile west of Granite Hills High School.Witnesses told 10News that two men were arguing on the sidewalk when one man took out a gun and shot the victim. According to police, an initial investigation indicates that an off-duty security guard tried to stop either a vehicle burglary or a carjacking. At some point, the vehicle's owner got involved, shooting and killing the suspect, police say. The shooter stayed on scene and cooperated before being arrested. (KGTV) - A plane made an emergency landing Friday on westbound Interstate 8, according to the California Highway Patrol.A 36-year-old student pilot and 25-year-old instructor from California Flight Academy were above El Cajon and had engine trouble about 11:15 a.m., the CHP reported.According to SDSUBaseball's twitter page, the instructor is Ryan Muno, a former Aztec baseball star.Both men were trying to land at Gillespie Field but were forced to touch down on the freeway. The instructor took over the controls and landed safely in lanes near Second Ave."The instructor took over the controls of the plane. (KGTV) — The Dehesa School District Board voted 4-0 Friday afternoon to place their superintendent on paid administrative leave amid a fraud investigation.Earlier this week, the San Diego District Attorney’s Office charged Superintendent Nancy Hauer with one count of misappropriating public funds.She was one of 11 people charged in a statewide scheme, in which the DA says two men siphoned more than million in state money through a network of 19 charter schools.“The defendants sought out small school districts with limited experience in oversight and proposed they authorize online charter schools to earn additional public funds in the form of oversight fees,” the DA’s Office wrote in a summary of the charges.At Friday’s special Dehesa School District Board meeting, the board spent an hour and a half in closed session with legal counsel discussing Hauer’s employment.Board President, Cindy White refused an interview with 10News.On the dais, Board Vice President Karl Backer told the audience, “we have initiated new legal council to peel apart the charter operations to make sure sound practices and legal compliance is met.” 1165

EL CAJON (CNS) - A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot multiple times, possibly at a two-vehicle traffic crash in El Cajon, a police lieutenant said With details still sketchy, a little after 9:45 p.m. Saturday police received several calls of loud noises in the area of the 1500 block of East Washington Avenue, where officers discovered a man who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, said El Cajon police Lt. Walt Miller.Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital and officers also discovered a two-vehicle traffic crash in the same area.Multiple people fled from the crash, Miller said.
