SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Americans are spending more and more time commuting for every day while others aren’t commuting at all, according to a new report. The report, released Thursday by Apartment List, claims that the number of “super commuters,” people who travel more than 90 minutes to work each way, has increased by more than 31 percent since 2005. In the same time frame, the number of Americans working from home has increased by 76 percent, according to the report. Another California city, Stockton, pulled ahead of all other metros in the U.S. with more than 11 percent of its population considered super commuters. Apartment List says the cheaper cost of living when compared to the San Francisco Bay Area is a contributing factor. While the share of super commuters in San Diego may be modest, some people have decided not to commute at all. Apartment List says creative and technical jobs lead the working from home charge. The list includes arts, design, entertainment, sports and media. Despite long commutes, there may be some good news. The report claims that those who work from home may enjoy higher earnings because they typically live in high-wage metros. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A UC San Diego fraternity was suspended as the school investigates multiple sexual assault allegations against some of its members. According to a report by The UCSD Guardian campus newspaper, at least four female students claimed they were sexually assaulted by members of the Sigma Chi fraternity in incidents over the course of the academic year. Details of the accusations came to light during sorority meetings last month, where chapter residents read written accounts from the alleged victims. An anonymous student who was at one of the meetings told the school newspaper that one woman claimed she was drugged at a Sigma Chi party when a fraternity member handed her a spiked drink that rendered her unconscious. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A University of San Diego professor has been suspended from campus over alleged misconduct, the university confirmed to 10News.The professor's behavior reportedly violated the university's policy and "is antithetical to our mission and values," the university said in part. The professor was not named.USD officials are currently investigating the incident. The school said in a statement:"We are in the process of investigating the complaint. Our commitment to protecting employee privacy restricts our ability to share names or details of the incident. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An attorney for a man charged with killing a South Bay music producer told a jury that her client took steps to dispose of the 28-year-old’s body out of fear of being accused of the murder, but did not actually carry out the brutal stabbing himself.Both the defense and the prosecution gave closing statements Monday in the high-profile murder trial of 54-year-old Timothy John Cook. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman who was hit by a car in Normal Heights says she’s been left stranded for six months after her wheelchair was damaged in the crash. Now, replacing it is a challenge. Pet photographer Tamandra Michaels’ love for the camera came to a pause after she was hit from behind while crossing the street.“It sent me flying," Michaels said. The wreck damaged her custom wheelchair, which cost more than ,000.“It slightly bent the frame to where one of the front wheels don’t quite hit the ground.” Michaels says Geico, the insurance company of the woman who hit her, won’t replace the wheelchair after giving them proof the chair must be replaced.“Months went by, they said they did some research and that the chair should only cost between ,500 to ,100," said Michaels. Michaels says without being able to work, she can’t afford to pay the difference.“It's incredibly frustrating. They’re treating it like its a car or maybe even a bike. This is like my legs; this is my life.
