But some phone testers claim the new iPhone XS and larger XS Max are easier to break if they are dropped.  A new test from the electronics insurance company SquareTrade is raising questions about that glass and the durability of the new phones.In SquareTrade's drop from 6 feet, (which the insurance company claims simulate the height it would fall from if it slipped while you were talking) the XS screen shattered, resulting in loose and separated glass.A tumble test resulted in hairline cracks and scratches.SquareTrade calls the iPhone XS "high risk" for breakage, much higher than the older iPhone 7's and 8's, which did not have edge-to-edge glass.Others question SquareTrade resultsHowever, other reviewers say these tests may not be that realistic for most people.Apple says the new XS has "the most durable glass ever built into a smartphone."Other testers say unless you are in the NBA, most people don't drop their phones from a 6 foot height. (CNS) -- An online petition urging a delay of the scheduled reopening of the Disneyland Resort due to the risk of guests contracting coronavirus has acquired more than 26,000 signatures as of this weekend.The change.org petition was started by a user called "We Are Anonymous" and states that because COVID-19 cases are rising, Disneyland Resort is "endangering cast members and guests to be exposed to (coronavirus)" with its planned reopening of Disneyland and California Adventure on July 17. The Downtown Disney shopping district is scheduled to reopen July 9."There are more cases now than when the parks closed on March 13th, 2020," the petition said. "Health Officials have stated that the 2nd wave of Covid-19 will be worse. (AP) — A Los Angeles police detective has been charged with secretly videotaping dozens of men inside a restroom at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.The Anaheim city attorney's office says 42-year-old Ryan Caplette was charged Friday with 75 misdemeanor counts.Prosecutors allege that Caplette was the man seen videotaping inside a stadium bathroom on June 8. He was off-duty at the time. Caplette was released after being placed under a citizen's arrest.Prosecutors allege that Caplette videotaped at least 37 people that day.Caplette is charged with disorderly conduct that includes peeping with intent to invade privacy, secretly videotaping in a restroom and loitering.Caplette couldn't immediately be reached for comment. He has a court appearance scheduled for July 22.An LAPD spokesman says Caplette has been assigned to paid home duty. 859

An 8-year-old girl in Florida was seriously injured when a massive tree limb fell on her Monday, as she was playing in a school playground during recess.Patricia Whidden suffered a fractured skull when the limb fell on her, dropping from a live oak at Edward Upthegrove Elementary School in LaBelle."It's an extremely tragic incident, and we are investigating," said Lucinda Kelley, deputy superintendent of Hendry County District Schools.Patricia's aunt Kristi Whidden said her niece has bleeding and swelling of the brain, and is recovering at a hospital in Delray Beach."Right now, she's being kept sedated to give her brain and body a chance to recover," Kristi Whidden said.Live oak trees form a canopy over many schools in Hendry County. Kelley said she believes the limb that fell on Patricia was a freak accident, although the LaBelle area did sustain a lot of damage from Hurricane Irma last fall."The limb that fell did not appear to be, at first glance, related to that," Kelley said. "We are going to ask for the help of an expert arborist to come in and examine all of the trees."In the meantime, the the school district has closed playground where Patricia was hurt. Although sedated, Kristi said her niece did wake up at one point during the night, and was able to respond to questions with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down."Right now, the focus is on Patricia and getting her through this," she said. "A lot of people have sent their prayers and positive vibes."Upthegrove Elementary is organizing a sock hop fundraiser to help Patricia's family with expenses. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died Monday at the age of 27, stunning Major League Baseball and leading to the postponement of the team's game against the Texas Rangers.Skaggs was with the team in Texas when he was found unresponsive in his hotel room. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are investigating, but no foul play is suspected at this time.Skaggs was "an important part of the Angels Family," the team said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time."Skaggs had been a regular in the Angels' starting rotation since late 2016, when he returned from Tommy John surgery. He struggled with injuries repeatedly over the past three seasons, but persevered to become a valuable starter in Los Angeles' injury-plagued rotation.The left-hander had just pitched on Saturday, allowing two runs in 4 1/3 innings in a 4-0 loss to Oakland.Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said he was "deeply saddened" by Skaggs' death."We will support the Angels' organization through this most difficult period, and we will make a variety of resources available to Tyler's teammates and other members of the baseball family," Manfred said in a statement.Skaggs was born in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Woodland Hills, in the far western part of the sprawling San Fernando Valley.
