‘Tis the season to shop! With the holidays around the corner, stores will be offering sales and discounts. Many of them may appear too good to be true. Well, most of them are, and if you’re a shopper who isn’t great at math, you may fall for the advertised sales.More than 70 percent of shoppers reportedly can't do the math when it comes to finding out how much the item will end up costing them.  If math isn’t confusing enough, stores have another discount trick up their sleeve. It’s known as “price framing,” and stores have been doing this for years. Here's a trickier scenario seen a lot: there are two price options for a top-of-the-line item and a generic one.  Let’s take a blender, for example. Top-of-the-line usually cost about 0, but it’s on sale for 0. The generic usually cost , and now it's on sale for .Which one is the better deal? Most shoppers may think the 50 percent discount on the generic option is the best deal.  However, it's all psychological. A 2-month-old in Arizona has tested positive for COVID-19, according to her mother.Angelica Wendell of Gilbert thinks her newborn Eevee contracted the virus from Wendell's sister, who was at their home visiting recently and later developed symptoms. She was shocked to find out her daughter had the virus."Everyone's like kids don't get it, so it's not a big deal, it's just old and sick people. So when you find out your newborn has it, she's my first kid, so I've never had another baby to experience any other illness with, so when you find out it's COVID, it's just heartbreaking. I started panicking because I didn't know what was going to happen," said Wendell.Wendell said Eevee first developed a fever and stopped acting like her happy self."I had a bad feeling about it so I took her to the emergency room. The next day she started getting bad congestion and she started getting a viral rash."Wendell said Eevee is now doing a lot better. She's fever-free and she's eating again.Dr. Eunice Yoon, a critical care pediatrician at Banner's Cardon Children's Medical Center, said it's hard to know for sure how common the virus is in infants."We know that kids overall are maybe 5-10 percent of all the positive tests that we have. But we're also not testing everyone, so it's hard for us to know. We also know that babies primarily are getting their infections from adults. They're not getting them from other kids."She said babies and children with the virus usually have mild symptoms, and up to 50 percent of children don't show symptoms at all.Dr. Yoon recommends adults do their part -- keep a distance, wash hands and wear masks, especially around infants."We're always worried about those newborn babies when they're less than a month; their immune systems are not fully developed. We don't know whether this viral illness could predispose them to other illnesses, and we don't know if there's going to be any effects down the road for these kids," said Dr. Yoon.Wendell hopes others learn from her story and take precautions."Just be careful, even if you don't let your baby outside be careful who you let around them because you think even your family is fine, but you may not know exactly what they're doing. It's very sad to watch your child, especially with this disease that no one really knows a whole lot about," said Wendell.Wendell has had a fever but doesn't have severe symptoms. (KGTV) - When it comes to lifting up someone in need and changing lives, it only takes one person to make a difference. Owning a busy auto repair shop in Vista isn’t enough for TJ Crossman. Life hasn’t always been easy for him as a cancer survivor, widower and single dad. Four years ago, Crossman discovered ‘Wheels to Prosper’, a nationwide collective of independently owned auto shops that fix up cars and give them away to people in need. Crossman put out the word on social media and applications came pouring in. “I’ve heard about people with cancer, elderly, homeless and want to live in the car,” Crossman said. Applications came pouring in. “It catches on; it’s infectious,” said Crossman. Last year a car was awarded to 19-year-old Matthew Haynes, a heart transplant recipient who spent months in the hospital. “When I learned i won, it was overwhelming. It was great,” said Haynes. “I loved the stereo, the trunk, the seats; I love the whole car.” Two years ago the Tapia family was selected. Their daughter has a rare genetic disorder and needs to be driven to Rady Children’s Hospital on a regular basis. The family car had broken down and ignited on the side of the road. “When we were blessed with this it was an amazing feeling. I know I broke down and cried,” said Michelle Tapia. Haynes and Tapia are grateful to Crossman, who they describe as thoughtful and caring. “It’s just a blessing that a guy like him is around to give reassurance to those who have lost hope,” said Haynes. 1507

(KGTV) - The nearing Deferred Action for Childhood Act deadline is prompting artists to get their take immigrants' experiences out before the government’s decision.San Diego Border Dreamers hosted a fundraiser featuring all immigration-related art. More than 40 artists from around California donated various works for the show that was held at Bread and Salt in Barrio Logan.All proceeds from the artwork sold went the group and effort to get a clean DACA bill.“I hope with this we are able to enlighten people about our experience for those that are not fully aware what we go through,” said Dulce Garcia, a DACA recipient.  659
