BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng on Friday urged resolute efforts to forestall the unauthorized occupation of arable land to construct buildings in rural areas in a bid to protect arable land.

The Arab participants thanked China for its consistent support for Arab countries in defending sovereignty and independence. They held that issues related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang are China's internal affairs, and opposed external forces' interference in China's internal affairs.

The spokesperson said the Sino-British Joint Declaration is essentially about the resumption of exercise of sovereignty by China over Hong Kong. With the return of Hong Kong in 1997, UK-related obligations under the declaration had all been fulfilled, while the legal basis for the governance of Hong Kong by the Chinese government is the Constitution of China and the Basic Law of Hong Kong, the spokesperson said.

"We hereby warn the U.S. side that Xinjiang affairs are purely China's internal affairs that allow no foreign interference. The Chinese government and people are resolute in safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and development interests. Once again, we urge the U.S. side to immediately redress the mistake, and stop using this Xinjiang-related Act to harm China's interests and interfere in China's internal affairs. Otherwise, China will respond resolutely, and the United States must bear all the consequences arising therefrom," the statement said.

Xi said that at the critical moment in China's fight against the coronavirus disease, various sections of Bangladeshi society extended support to China in different ways, which has demonstrated the profound friendship the Bangladeshi people share with the Chinese people.
