It was created by Dale Chihuly, a renowned artist known for his blown-glass work, including in the lobby of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.It was installed in 2019, but apparently didn’t upset the neighbors until this year when the netting was installed around it after it was damaged, according to city records obtained by the Times.In July, Gross was sent a letter from the City of Laguna Beach that said the netting, lighting and sculpture lacked the proper permits.Apparently, that’s when things escalated.Gross is accused of blaring music at all hours, including the “Gilligan’s Island” theme song, apparently in an effort to force Towfiq to drop the complaint.The two have both filed temporary restraining orders against the other, both are pending in court. 1409

A tweet by the Girl Scouts congratulating new Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett drew such outrage from Barrett’s critics that the youth organization swiftly deleted it. That then sparked a new backlash from Barrett’s supporters. The original tweet was posted Wednesday evening. It said, “Congratulations Amy Coney Barrett on becoming the 5th woman appointed to the Supreme Court since its inception in 1789.” The post featured an image of Barrett, who was confirmed Monday and sworn in at the court on Tuesday; along with currently serving justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor; former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor; and Barrett’s predecessor, the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.The post was quickly attacked by critics who view Barrett, a conservative, as a potential threat to civil liberties and women’s rights.“What kind of patch does one earn for uplifting a woman who is the antithesis of justice?” tweeted U.S. Rep. A Mississippi school district has apologized and a high school band director has been suspended after the band staged a halftime skit that depicted police being held at gunpoint.The controversial skit came as the Forest Hill High School band from Jackson performed Friday during a football game against Brookhaven High School to the south. A pastor from North Carolina is accused of peeing on a passenger while onboard a Delta Airlines flight earlier this month. He has been cited for simple assault.According to a police report, Daniel Chalmers acknowledged having “a couple of drinks” before an overnight flight from Las Vegas to Detroit on October 12, reports the Charlotte Observer.Chalmers told police he was taking prescribed medicine, which he later admitted was a sleeping aid.The victim reports she “woke up feeling something warm on her body and when she looked up to her right, she observed Mr. Chalmers standing next to her shaking his exposed penis,” the police report states according to the Charlotte Observer. The victim then started screaming.A police officer was onboard at the time and asked the victim what happened.“He peed on me!,” she said, according to the report.The police report states Chalmers responded affirmatively that he peed on the woman, and said “I thought I was going to the bathroom.”Chalmers and his wife, Shara Lea Chalmers, lead “Love Wins Ministries” in Raleigh, North Carolina.They released a statement Tuesday that reads, "I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on this overnight flight. I took an Ambien for the first time to sleep well on my flight and had a terrible reaction.
