SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A photographer who recorded a security guard's exchange in Lemon Grove with a woman about immigration is explaining the situation.Sonia Sorrano says she is still shaken by the heated confrontation she stopped to record while shopping with her 9-year-old daughter."How am I supposed to tell my daughter she can trust a person in a uniform and badge?" Sorrano said.RELATED: Video shows security guard questioning woman's immigration statusSorrano started recording the argument when she says she heard the guard using inappropriate language.  "I understand he was frustrated with her but he got very unprofessional about it and I told him not to talk to her that way.  I did call him a fat ass, then he turned on me and called me an ugly b****  in front of my daughter."Sorrano said she has attempted to report the guard's actions to his employer, Allied Universal."I get no answers I just get put on hold.  I think he should be fired.  If I employed someone like that I would want him gone.  He was just unprofessional."  1087

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Carlos family is hoping surveillance video will help track down the man recorded making himself comfortable in their home.Along Wallsey Drive, the Meduna family got a heart-sinking scare the day before Halloween.Around 8:30 a.m, Megan Meduna and her husband both got a notification that their garage door was open.  Inside the home, a camera was recording an intruder. Meduna says the man had pried open a window screen in the front and forced open a window.  A sound heard in the video is the burglar opening the door to the garage, before he's seen shutting the window he just climbed through. As he puts on his gloves, he walks up to the camera and flips it over."It's just creepy, creepy to see someone in my house sneaking around," said Meduna.By the time police arrived, the man was gone. He got away with only a little bit of cash, but the impact was felt across a neighborhood.  Surveillance video showed him casing the area.  Minutes before the break-in, a neighbor reported seeing the man knocking at her door, then pretending to need directions when she answered the door.  At another home, a ripped screen was found near a side window and an out-of-place brick was discovered outside another window.Neighbors are now wondering if the same man could be linked to other burglaries. A few weeks ago and blocks away, 10News reported on a break-in with a similar MO that left a newlywed couple missing wedding gifts and family heirlooms.  A month ago, there was a another burglary at Meduna's home, in which electronics and jewelry were taken."Feel violated and angry. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local Marine Corps veteran will be part of the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C. He'll be honored for his service, and the work he does with other veterans who have PTSD.Bill Rider is the founder of American Combat Veterans of War, a non-profit that he started in 2013."We let them know we're going to be there for them, we mentor them," Rider said about his group. "Just about anything and everything they could possibly need, ACVOW does."ACVOW runs programs that help veterans cope with PTSD. Their "Veterans Moving Forward" program visits vets at the Vista Detention Center. Its goal is to reduce recidivism rates to below 10% for veterans.Another program called Safe Warrior Outreach pairs younger veterans with older veterans to talk through their struggles and share stories."We're trying to chip away at the stigma of PTSD," said Rider. "Human beings were not meant to watch their friends be killed in such a visceral way. And, they're not meant to kill other human beings."It's an issue he has first-hand experience with. Rider joined the Marine Corps when he was 19 years old and was part of the 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment. That regiment became famous for its part in the battle of Khe Sahn, where it had the highest casualty rate in Marine Corps history."It was, on a daily basis, a visceral passing of Marines and warriors," said Rider. "In one battle, we lost 45 or 50 people, and another 150 were wounded."Rider left the Marines in 1969. When he returned home, it wasn't long before the lingering effects of PTSD started to show."The way I knew something was quite different was when I was transferred back to my little hometown in Ohio. A car backfired, and I instinctively laid out on the sidewalk, expecting more shots," he said.Now he's dedicated his life to helping other vets who deal with PTSD. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A program through the County's office of Child Welfare Services is making sure every kid in the foster program gets to celebrate this holiday season.The "Home for the Holidays" program pairs kids in the foster shelters with families for a holiday, so they don't have to spend the holiday alone."This is a great opportunity for families to kind of try it out and see what it's like to work with our youth," says Kimberly Giardina, the Director of Child Welfare Services.Right now, San Diego County has about 140 kids in the foster program that need a foster family. While this program doesn't give them a long-term solution, it helps the kids through a difficult season."People open their homes," says Giardina. "They see that our youth are just like every other kid in the neighborhood."Nanci Weinstein, who has fostered three kids through the county and adopted one, says it's an experience that's invaluable for both the kids and the families."I can't imagine what that might feel like for a child," she says. "Every moment is precious because this child is in a situation where they need someone to take care of them."Families interested in participating in the Home for the Holidays program need to complete a background check, home safety inspection, training and orientation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Montgomery High School student wearing a gorilla costume was hospitalized on Halloween after being hit by a golf cart in Otay Mesa West. According to San Diego Police, the student reportedly cracked an egg on the assistant principal's head before running across the street to a nearby park. Police say staff members at the school chased the student in a golf cart. During the chase, police say there was some sort of fight between the staff members and student before there was “some type of contact” between the student and golf cart. The student was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
