Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson called the arrest of two black men at a Philadelphia store last week "reprehensible" and promised to take action so that it doesn't happen again.A store manager called the police because the two men were sitting in the store without placing an order. That person arrived at the store as they were being arrested.A Starbucks spokesperson says the manager in the store who called police is no longer working in that store, although she would not comment if she is working at another location.Johnson said there would be more training for staff on the issue of "unconscious bias.""I've been very focused on understanding what guidelines and what training ever let this happen," he said. "What happened was wrong and we will fix it."Johnson had already posted apologies on the company's website. He said the company wanted to "express our deepest apologies to the two men who were arrested with a goal of doing whatever we can to make things right." He said he hoped to meet with the two men in person to make a face-to-face apology. He was in Philadelphia on Monday when he conducted the interview on Good Morning America."Starbucks stands firmly against discrimination or racial profiling," he said on the blog post.Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney issued his own statement calling the incident "appears to exemplify what racial discrimination looks like in 2018." He added that the apology from Starbucks "is not enough" and that he would ask the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations to examine the firm's policies and procedures and whether there should be bias training for its employees. And protests were taking place for Monday in Philadelphia by community residents who want the Starbucks store where the incident took place closed.Prosecutors in Philadelphia have announced there would be no charges pursued against the men. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross defended his officers' actions in a statement on Facebook, saying that the officers were called to respond to a trespassing complaint and that they behaved properly and followed procedure.Starbucks has a history of advocating for racial equality. Sounds of gunfire prompted emergency calls and a lockdown at a North Carolina high school, but a public information officer says there is currently no evidence of an active shooter.Officials with the Pender County Sheriffs' Office are still searching Topsail High School as a precaution, and Pender Schools remain on lockdown.The high school went into lockdown at 6:30 a.m. ET due to reports of the sounds of gunfire. Pender Schools confirmed in a tweet that it was investigating an active shooter at Topsail High School at about 8 a.m. It added that all of the district's campuses on the "eastern side of Pender County" are on lockdown.Pender Schools later confirmed that the noises "from the top of the building" were mistaken for gunfire. Sonna Anderson was enjoying a horseback ride through the Badlands in North Dakota in September 2017 when her horse, Cody, got spooked, jerked toward a fence and tripped on a cow track in the dirt. The horse rolled onto Anderson, who hit her head, briefly lost consciousness and broke three ribs.The 911 transcript shows that an ambulance reached the 60-year-old judge from Bismarck within 20 minutes. Anderson was secured on a backboard and ready to go when an air ambulance, a helicopter with a medical crew, also landed at the scene. Anderson says her husband asked repeatedly whether the ground ambulance crew could take her by ground; there was a hospital less than an hour's drive away."But he was told that [the air ambulance] was necessary. They never told him why it was necessary or how much it cost, but they insisted I had to go by air ambulance," Anderson said. "But it's so odd there is nothing in the record that indicated it was time-sensitive or that I needed to be airlifted."For that one helicopter ride, to a hospital farther away in Bismarck, records show that Valley Med Flight charged Anderson ,727.26. Sanford Health Plan, her insurance, paid ,697.73. That left Anderson with a ,029.53 bill.Valley Med Flight did not respond to requests for comment."It shocked me," Anderson said. "I kept thinking, 'my God.' I got a copy of the 911 and air ambulance report to see how long they actually spent with me, when really, it was only around 45 minutes.
