A former Nazi SS guard known as "the bookkeeper of Auschwitz" has died before serving a four-year jail term, authorities in Germany said.Oskar Groening, 96, was sentenced for being an accessory to murder in 2015, but never went to jail due to a series of appeals for clemency on grounds of old age and ill-health.He died in a hospital on Friday, according to Spiegel Online. His latest appeal was denied in January.The legal doctrine under which Nazis can be tried in Germany began to evolve with the conviction in 2011 of another convicted Nazi war criminal, John Demjanjuk, as an accessory to the murder of 28,000 Jews in the Sobibor death camp in Poland.Groening's conviction extended the doctrine further, opening a door to further trials of alleged Nazi criminals.In 2016, Reinhold Hanning, a former SS guard at Auschwitz, was convicted of having assisted in the deaths of 170,000 people and sentenced to five years in prison.The trial of Hubert Zafke -- then 95 and accused of being an accessory to at least 3,681 murders at the same camp -- also began in 2016, but ended in September last year after he was deemed no longer fit to stand trial due to dementia, according to Reuters.In statement posted online, Dr Efraim Zuroff, chief Nazi-hunter at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Holocaust research group, said Groning's death just before he was due to serve his sentence was "unfortunate, at least on a symbolic level.""Without at least symbolic justice, these trials -- as important as they are -- lose an important part of their significance," he said."Their victims never had any appeals, nor did their tormentors have any mercy. A family celebrating a birthday in the Wisconsin Dells ended up with bed bug bites for souvenirs.When Aisha Carr and the group of young girls checked into the resort they had big expectations. They wanted to have some fun, but they also wanted some clean comforters and not to be eaten alive by bedbugs.They woke up to the bites Saturday morning at the Baker’s Sunset Bay Resort."I started feeling around and I just so happened to scratch my arm and I felt like lines of bites," Carr said.Photos show Carr and some of the girls swelling up everywhere, covered in ugly red bedbug bites. The front desk was then immediately called."Our trip was pretty much ruined from that point,” Carr said, “It's just disheartening and upsetting. It was very humiliating."Scripps station WTMJ in Milwaukee reached out to the resort and an employee confirmed the bedbug case over the phone, saying Carr was provided compensation for her stay.She said they have an extremely clean resort, but with people coming and going all the time they believe someone brought them in.Carr said after going there for the past 12 years that may have been her last trip."Just all around a bad experience," she said. "It's no excuse for it, it's a zero tolerance."The employee at the resort added that a professional pest control company came to the resort Monday to treat the room. Carr said she has been using over the county allergy medicine to treat the bites.The creepy crawlers can be hard to spot and it's best to find the problem early. The EPA has some tips on what to look for. First, look for rusty or red-colored stains on bed sheets or mattresses. A lawsuit is being filed against Massage Envy after attorneys say seven women throughout California were sexually assaulted or raped by massage therapists, according to KGO.In a lawsuit filed against the company, attorneys say they are looking for other alleged victims to come forward.The reported incidents happened at Massage Envy locations in Southern California, the Sacramento area and the Bay Area.The claims range from inappropriate touching to rape.
