SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — New numbers show almost 40% of people who test positive for COVID-19 in San Diego County are between the ages of 20 and 39.As more businesses begin to open up, more Californians are testing positive for the coronavirus."It really is an alarming trend," Dr. Abisola Olulade, family medicine doctor at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, said.It is a trend affecting everyone, but most noticeably for younger adults between 20 and 39.RELATED: Gov. But new numbers show the virus does not discriminate."There is a sense that a lot of young people are, well, you're young, and so you feel a little bit more invincible. "We are not immune to the effects of this virus."Younger folks are often the first to venture out to newly reopened businesses or have participated in recent large gatherings like the protests. This is in comparison to older folks, who often continue to stay indoors.The problem is this. Young people who feel no symptoms likely will not be hospitalized. WASH your hands. And WATCH your distance," Dr. Olulade said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Officials with Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar announced Saturday that a second Marine has tested positive for coronavirus.Capt. Matthew Gregory told 10News that the patient is currently being isolated and receiving medical support aboard the base."The air station is currently conducting a thorough contact investigation to determine who may have had contact with the Marine and notify them of the situation," officials said.The identity of the Marine is being withheld due to privacy restrictions, but Gregory said the Marine resides on base and was not on leave."The Marine self-reported to the Miramar medical clinic with symptoms and was ultimately transferred to Naval Medical Center San Diego for testing," said Gregory.The news comes after it was reported Thursday that a Marine stationed at MCAS Miramar had tested presumptive positive for coronavirus after returning from leave in Washington state. The patient was visiting family which is where officials believe he contracted the virus, officials on base familiar with the matter told 10News.Both cases are currently in isolation and being quarantined in an empty barracks that was designated to treat potential cases of Covid-19, according to Gregory. "Both are fine and doing well," said Gregory.MCAS Miramar is one of four bases outside of California used as quarantine sites for individuals returning from overseas, including U.S. citizens that were evacuated from Wuhan last month and passengers aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship that was brought to Oakland last week. The quarantined passengers are being treated by staff with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Neither of the two infected Marines had any contact with the cruise ship passengers, according to Gregory.Gregory noted that MCAS Miramar officials had taken measures earlier this week to prepare for potential cases. People lost their lives in both fires.Cal Fire Captain Issac Sanchez said it's extremely important San Diegans are prepared to evacuate at a moment's notice. "Be ready to evacuate, have your defensible clearance space done. Not only do it, but do it responsibly. Do it first thing in the morning when temperatures are low and humidity levels are relatively high," Sanchez said.The weather contributes to a dangerous cocktail, increasing October's potency."You have that combination of fuel and weather really giving a one-two punch to us pretty consistently," Sanchez said.The Valley Fire in September reminded San Diegans of how quickly a spark can grow out of control and how fast evacuations can happen.Next week's weather doesn't look good, according to Sanchez. "And, by the way, the state of California is begging us to build walls in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday identified the Border Patrol agents and suspect they say knocked an agent off his ATV before being shot.Agents Micah Owens and Brandon Brandt reportedly shot the suspect, Francisco Javier Gutierrez-Alvarado, during the incident.Alvarado was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and no agents were seriously injured, police say.RELATED: Man shot by Border Patrol after knocking agent off ATV with rock, authorities sayDuring an initial investigation, authorities learned that a Border Patrol agent was on patrol on an ATV in the area of Spooner’s Mesa when he was hit with a rock and knocked off the vehicle by Alvarado.The suspect rode away on the ATV and was chased by several other agents before losing control and crashing into a fence.During the chase, both agents reportedly shot at Alvarado, striking him at least once. Alvarado is being charged with assaulting a federal officer. The San Diego Police Department is handling the investigation. 1019
