SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The brother-in-law of a woman killed in a murder-suicide in Paradise Hills spoke to 10News about her relationship with the father of her young sons.On the morning of Nov. 16, 29-year-old Sabrina Rosario and her four sons were shot by the boys' father in a home on Flintridge Drive, according to San Diego police.Rosario and three of her sons died, and the boys' father -- identified as 31-year-old Jose Valdivia -- shot himself to death after killing the family members.As of Sunday afternoon, Rosario's 9-year-old son, Ezequiel, was in an induced coma at Rady Children's Hospital.RELATED: Parents, 3 children killed in Paradise Hills murder-suicideKarl Albright, Rosario's brother-in-law, told 10News, "No one thinks it's going to happen until it's happened."Albright said he has so many questions about what led Valdivia to gun down his wife and children. According to Albright, Valdivia's infidelity broke Rosario's heart a year ago, and she decided to end things."She had made her mind up that it's over, and he didn't want to accept that," Albright said. "He wanted it back. And he tried to, the love way, and then he tried the fear way, and he tried every way in between to try to break through, but she stood her ground."Albright said Valdivia's threatening texts and stalker behavior escalated six months ago when he bragged about purchasing a gun.Albright explained Valdivia would tell Rosario, "I'm going to come over and kill myself in front of you guys. I'm going to kill you guys, then kill myself."Rosario told him that he sounded like the boy who cried wolf, according to Albright.A records search shows two cases of domestic violence in 2019. On Nov. 15, police said Rosario spent the whole day at court obtaining a restraining order against her husband.When he called that night, she told him she had no other choice. He never called back.Albright said she told him that their problems would be solved, and her children would be safe."Even what they were living in, and what she was going through in the house, she had an umbrella over the kids, and it never fazed them," Albright said.Instead, the next morning, police said the children's father came into the granny flat on Flintridge Drive and shot his wife and four children in the head before shooting himself.Rosario and 3-year-old Enzi died at the home. Five-year-old Zuriel, 9-year-old Ezequiel, and 11-year-old Zeth were rushed to the hospital. Zuriel and Zeth did not make it.Life will never be the same for relatives who live next door."Now that Thanksgiving is coming up and Christmas. We've already got Christmas gifts for the kids and for her," Albright said.Those gifts will remain under the tree in their honor."They were fun-loving. They were well-raised. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The California Center for the Arts, Escondido will host drive-in live concerts and a movie series this month.The concerts and movie screenings will be held at the former Nordstrom parking lot at Westfield North County at 8 p.m. Spaces for more than 250 vehicles will be made available and spaced apart to keep listeners distanced.The scheduled shows start on Aug. 14 with a showing of the classic musical Grease and continue on Aug. 15 and 16 with a performance by Jersey Boys stars Christian Hoff and Travis Cloer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Last Real Gym on North Park’s University Avenue took to the streets immediately after it became illegal to operate indoors in mid-July.The whole experiment lasted five days.“The sidewalks are pretty dirty between dog poop, dog pee … and human poop from the homeless sleeping on my side of the building,” owner Frank Kole said Friday.Kole decided to move everything back indoors in defiance of the Gov. Newsom’s July 13 health order meant to slow the spread of the coronavirus.RELATED: Former member of The Gym in Pacific Beach shares experience“Indoors I'm able to bleach, sanitize, wipe after every single use on the equipment that a member uses, and there's not a homeless person or a dog coming by to pee on it in between that,” Kole said.Kole said he's taking serious measures to keep people safe indoors, with hand sanitizing stations, plexiglass barriers, directional walking signs, and instructions to wipe down equipment.And also, no mask, no access.“I'm not going to lie, I'm not being nice about it,” Kole said. “If you're not wearing your mask, get out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Barrio Logan College Institute is moving into a newer, bigger location, thanks to the generosity of an area businessman.Nicholas Aguilera, who's father started Diego and Son Printing in 1972, is letting the BLCI lease the company's old building for 20 years, with an option to buy."I think it's awesome, it's fantastic," Aguilera says. "I think my dad would be very, very happy and proud."Aguilera says his father always wanted the business to be part of the community. Turning it's original location into an educational site fits with Diego's vision and passion for improving the Barrio."I see a future for our students," says BLCI Interim CEO Barbara Ybarra.The Institute works with kids from the 3rd grade through high school. It helps mentor them as they try to become the first person in their family to go to college. Ybarra says 100% of the students that complete the program go to college.The new building will allow the BLCI to serve even more students."These upgrades are going to help them compete technologically with the other students they're competing against to get into college," says Ybarra.She also says there's symmetry in taking over the old printing building."Diego used to print notebooks and pads of paper for the students to use and take to school," she says. "I see it coming full circle. It's a great legacy for their family."The BLCI is trying to raise .5 million to buy the building. So far they've been able to secure .1 million in donations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thanks to everyone who gave, Month of a Million Meals surpassed four million meals raised. The meals will go to Feeding San Diego and couldn’t have been done without those who pledged their support. ABC10 and Live Well San Diego partnered with Feeding San Diego with the goal of raising enough money to buy a million meals. The fundraiser continued throughout December. Feeding San Diego serves 63,000 people every week, including children, seniors, military families and anyone facing hunger. One in eight people in San Diego County are food insecure and one in 6 kids in San Diego face hunger. In 2017, Feeding San Diego distributed 26 million meals. 681
