White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller has been interviewed as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, according to sources familiar with the investigation.The interview brings the special counsel investigation into President Donald Trump's inner circle in the White House. Miller is the highest-level aide still working at the White House known to have talked to investigators.Miller's role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey was among the topics discussed during the interview as part of the probe into possible obstruction of justice, according to one of the sources.Special counsel investigators have also shown interest in talking to attendees of a March 2016 meeting where foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos said that he could arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin through his connections. Miller was also at the meeting, according to a source familiar with the meeting.Papadopoulos was recently charged with lying to the FBI about Russian contacts he had during the campaign.Earlier this year, Miller assisted Trump in writing a memo that explained why Trump planned to fire Comey, according to sources familiar with the matter. Eventually that memo was scrapped because of opposition by White House counsel Don McGahn, who said its contents were problematic, according to The New York Times.The Comey dismissal letter -- drafted during a May weekend at Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey -- has also drawn interest from the Mueller team. Sources tell CNN that White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, who was also in New Jersey that weekend, did not oppose the decision to fire Comey. CNN has reported the special counsel's team is asking questions in interviews with witnesses about Kushner's role in Comey's firing.The Times reported in September that the Justice Department had turned over a copy of the letter, which was never sent, to special counsel Robert Mueller. That memo, according to a source, was very similar to a letter written by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that was cited as the reason for firing Comey. Rosenstein's letter criticized Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.But just days after the firing, Trump said he considered the Russia probe in his decision to fire Comey."In fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said 'you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won'," Trump said about his decision to fire Comey in a May interview with NBC News.Miller was also an early member of Trump's campaign staff, leaving his role as Sessions' communications director in the Senate to join Trump in January 2016.Mueller's team has also talked to key former aides including former White House chief of staff Reince Preibus and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. They have also interviewed National Security Council chief of staff Keith Kellogg. CNN has previously reported Mueller is also seeking to interview other White House staff including McGahn, communications director Hope Hicks and Kushner aide Josh Raffell.The special counsel's office declined to comment. When COVID-19 forced businesses to reduce capacity, restaurants had to get creative. Many opened up outdoor space to dine.Now, with winter coming, restaurants are scrambling to figure out how to keep outdoor spaces comfortable.“We won a James Beard award here. Hope for the best, plan for the worst,” Jasinski said.Like many restaurants across the U.S., Rioja is struggling with bringing business back and following physical distancing guidelines.“The order that let us increase our patio at each of our restaurants was a really big help over the summer. It got us to about 65 to 70% of our prior year occupancy,” Jasinski said.Outdoor space has been the saving grace for many.The National Restaurant Association Research Group conducted a survey of more than 3,500 restaurant operators from August 26 to September 1 nationwide.“Places that have table service, approximately three fourths are currently utilizing outdoor space which is a very large percentage,” said Mike Whatley, vice president of state and local affairs for the National Restaurant Association. “And it's making up an average of 44% of daily sales, which is very high by historical standards. Almost half of their money currently is coming from outdoor dining.” But outdoor space may present some challenges in the coming months.“Equipment for outdoor dining, especially when it gets cold, it gets expensive,” Whatley said. “What we found is that the average restaurateur is hoping to utilize their outdoor space two months more from this point moving forward.”“It’s absolutely terrifying. I feel like it’s 'Game of Thrones' and winter is coming and I’m scared. It’s not white walkers, I’m just scared of the occupancy,” Jasinski said. And she’s not alone.Many restaurants across the country are facing the same battle, and searching for solutions. The City of Chicago is reaching out to help by hosting a Winter Design Challenge, inviting the community to reimagine the winter outdoor dining experience for a prize.It’s similar to how Larimer Square in Denver, Colorado, where Rioja is located, was re-imagined, by letting the community have a say.“It wasn't just about the seating capacity, it was about the experience itself of being on the street and I mean really, it’s worked,” Jon Buerge said. Buerge is the Chief Development Officer at Urban Villages, the property management company in charge of Larimer Square, a prime example of the “Street-ery” concept.“This 'street-ery' concept is a new one where you block off a street in an urban area, and allow restaurants to take over some of that space. We’re seeing that in a number of jurisdictions,” Whatley said.“Some of the things that we've been exploring are tent systems that could be heated and, on a nice day, you can roll up the walls,” Buerge said. He said solutions really depend on the place.“Seattle has been slower to reopen. The people in Seattle have been less willing to go out and restaurants have been closed for longer. So it depends on the market, it depends on the weather, it depends on whether the people in these cities are ready to come out,” he said.As temperatures drop, restaurants are weighing the benefits and costs of seating diners outdoors.“There's all these hoops we have to jump through for less dollars,” Jasinski said. “I haven't heard of anybody else having any brilliant ideas that don't cost a ton of money.” 3588

If I don’t work out consistently, I gain weight,” said Ladin, who works in marketing.Many Americans like Ladin and Brady are changing clothing sizes depending on how they spent their time sheltering at home. And brands from Levi Strauss & Co. to lingerie label Cosabella are taking note. So are body measuring technology companies, which report that shoppers are changing their measurements on their online profiles.The trend could be good for clothing companies — new sizes likely mean that customers’ wardrobes need to be updated. We've all experienced someone speeding through our neighborhood. But would drivers actually slow down if the city were to lower the speed limit?According to a new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it would. The study was done on the streets of Boston, and it found that lowering the default speed limit from 30 to 25 reduced the odds of a vehicle going over 35 miles per hour by about 30 percent.The study also found the odds of exceeding 30 mph fell by over 8 percent, and the odds someone would exceed 25 mph fell by almost 3 percent.The study did not examine how the lower speed limits affected crashes, but the institute plans to study that in their next phase.The authors of the study also say that the number of deaths related to speeding were actually higher on roads where the speed limit is 35 mph or lower, than it is on roadways where cars are going much faster. 900
