The American Automobile Association (AAA) expects at least 34 million less people will travel this holiday season than last year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.Public health concerns and travel guidance are influencing decisions not to travel during a time when people often take vacations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging Americans not to go anywhere for the holidays this year, warning that it could increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19.Still, AAA projects as many as 84.5 million Americans may travel from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, a decline of at least 29%.As for methods of travel, AAA says most Americans who do go somewhere in the next few weeks will do so by car, with road trips accounting for 96% of holiday travel. Up to 81 million Americans will travel by car, a decline of at least 25% compared to last year, according to AAA.As has been the trend this year, far less people will fly this holiday season. AAA says as many as 2.9 million travelers are expected to book flights for the holidays, a decline of nearly 60% from 2019.For those who do choose to travel despite the risks, it’s important to take steps that can help keep yourself and others safe.AAA says to plan ahead by checking with state and local officials along your route and at your destination to learn about local guidance and any restrictions in place. That includes what’s expected of you when you return home. Many places require COVID-19 testing prior to and after travel.The CDC recommends taking a COVID-19 test one to three days before travel and another three to five days after travel, in addition to reducing nonessential activities for seven days after traveling.When packing, make sure you include face masks, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and a thermometer. It might also be a good idea to pack water and extra snacks to reduce the need to stop along your trip.If you’re staying at a hotel, AAA recommends calling ahead to ensure it’s open and to ask what precautions are being taken to protect guests. Steve Wynn will not be getting severance pay following his resignation from Wynn Resorts earlier this month.RELATED: Las Vegas police receive two reports of sexual misconduct by Steve WynnAccording to a document filed Feb. 15 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and signed by new Wynn Resorts CEO Matthew Maddox, Wynn will not receive any other compensation. He also cannot compete against the company for two years.The separation agreement also notes that Wynn must leave his residence at Wynn Las Vegas by June 1 and pay fair market rent until that date. Wynn can terminate the lease before that date. Wnny wll also cease to have administrative support after May 31 and health insurance through the company after Dec. 31, according to the document. Wynn's employment with Wynn Resorts began on Oct. 4, 2002 and ended on Feb. 6, 2018. He resigned following allegations of sexual misconduct. The document also acknowledges that Wynn agrees to cooperate with Wynn Resorts Board of Directors investigation into his time at the company. TAMPA — A St. Petersburg, Florida soldier is finally reuniting with a dog she rescued while she was deployed in Iraq in 2017. U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Tracy McKithern said she first laid eyes on a the little puppy as it sniffed around the base with its mom.McKithern said the puppy and the mom were clearly starving, and abused by locals, kicked and hit with rocks everyday. They were covered with dirt and scratches. The puppy had two siblings, but McKithern said they both disappeared.It didn't take long for the puppy and her mom to realize they were safe near the base, and would be fed too. As weeks went by, the puppy and its mom both gained weight and their wounds started to heal."She loved everyone," said McKithern. "She is the sweetest little soul. She came up to me immediately, probably hungry, but gentle. I think she was looking for love more than anything else."McKithern named the puppy Erby Kasima. Erby, after the the largest city in Northern Iraq, Erbil and Kasima, the Arabic name for "beauty and elegance."McKithern said she along with soldiers from Italian and German armies her unit was partnered with, began taking care of the dogs. McKithern was totally in love with Erby and said the puppy was always waiting at the base for them to return when they'd go on missions. But towards January 2018, as her 1-year deployment was expected to end, McKithern couldn't imagine leaving Erby behind. She decided to post a picture of the dog to Facebook with the caption, "I wish I could take her home.""I went to sleep, woke up and my friends and family had posted links to various rescue groups. I reached out to one of them and they responded immediately," McKithern said.She got in touch with one and sent them ,000 dollars to get the ball rolling."A complete stranger donated ,000 and it was around Christmas, so it was like a cute note, like Merry Christmas, or Happy New Year, it was amazing," she said.The non-profit, Puppy Rescue Mission, raised the rest of the money needed, which was ,500, from complete strangers. McKithern was beyond excited and grateful.But before Erby could leave, she needed vaccinations, documentation, and travel arrangements which became a daunting task for McKithern, who still needed to fulfill her duty as a soldier. She started to get worried the rescue wouldn't pan out. Instead, her German and Italian friends stepped up, promising to tie up any loose ends and get Erby on the plane.Erby was set to arrive JFK airport on March 11. Just days before, McKithern got word she would be deployed that SAME day, on a 67-day mission to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. She wouldn't be able to greet Erby, let alone see her for another 2 months."I was pretty sad, I mean I mention to my husband quite a few times, I love the Army and what we do, but I was pretty sad," she said. McKithern came home and was reunited with the dog she fell in love with and saved. She said none of this would have been possible without the help from strangers, and the friends she made in Iraq at her base. "I can't believe it," said McKithern. "It feels like a miracle is happening."Erby's mom is still in good hands being taken care of on the base, but McKithern hopes she can get adopted as well. SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas (KGTV) -- At least 26 people are dead and dozens more injured after a shooting at a church in Texas Sunday morning, according to ABC News.KSAT identified the shooter as Devin Kelley of New Braunfels, Tex. He reportedly fled the scene and is dead after a brief pursuit. ABC News reported Kelley has no known ties to terrorism.The shooting took place at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, which is located about 35 miles east of San Antonio, according to ABC affiliate KSAT.RELATED: Who is Devin Kelley, Texas church suspect?A witness reported seeing a man walk into the church around 11:30 a.m. and open fire.The victims ranged from 5 to 72 years old.
