(KGTV) – A large brush fire burning in the Cleveland National Forest’s Trabuco Canyon is spreading quickly Monday afternoon. The fire, dubbed the Holy Fire, was reported around 1:30 p.m. near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads, according to KABC.The Orange County Fire Authority said the blaze grew quickly from between seven and 10 acres to at least 4,000 by 8 p.m. and is currently spreading at a moderate rate. While Friday was just the second day that air traffic surpassed 1 million domestically since March, the same day last year had 2.5 million travelers.On Sunday, 1.05 million travelers passed through security checkpoints, the most since March, but the same day last year had over 2.3 million passengers. The data indicates that air travel is down at least 50% in the days leading up to Thanksgiving compared to years past.While fewer travelers might mean airports are less crowded, that does not mean planes are less packed. A number of airlines have slashed the number of routes in an effort to save money. This has resulted in fewer options for passengers.As there are still many Americans disregarding guidance to stay home this Thanksgiving, some are traveling for practical reasons. Many colleges and universities are not going to have in-person classes resume after Thanksgiving in hopes of reducing the spread of the virus on campuses.Although not as many Americans are expected to travel for Thanksgiving as usual, 56% of Americans are intending on traveling according to data from Tripadvisor. Three weeks into the 2019 racing season, both attendance and overall betting handle are down at Del Mar. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club says attendance is down about 5 percent, and handle is down 14 percent compared to 2018. "We've got to prove to our racing fans that we're doing the safest things we can to keep these horses healthy," he said. However, the new test requires test-takers to give some answer for all 20 questions, the previous rules only required that a test-taker get 6 correct and the officer could stop asking questions once a person got 6.Some immigration and naturalization experts worry the length change could reduce the efficiency of the citizenship application process, which has been struggling to keep up with a backlog according to FOX News.“The administration is adding hundreds of thousands of more minutes to these naturalization exams,” Sarah Pierce, a policy analyst at the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute told FOX News.The new test, which started being given on December 1, 2020, does away with geographical questions, in addition to other changes, like having to name all three branches of government instead of just one, or knowing biographical details about Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and Dwight Eisenhower. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) — Health conditions continue deteriorating Friday in Tijuana where thousands of migrants are camping, contributing to the opening of a second shelter 45 minutes away.The new shelter in an area known as El Barretal has a roof, dry floor and can house 3,000 migrants, Rodolfo Olimpo, a representative from Baja California State's Special Committee on Migration Issues said. Friday, about a thousand were shuttled by bus to the new shelter. There are no lighting fixtures, but migrants are using portable lights as well as flashlights.In the first shelter, the floor is mud, puddles everywhere and the entire area is littered with junk. One man brushed his teeth over a muddy puddle.10News Reporter Laura Acevedo went to Tijuana Thursday and spoke with the migrants living in squalor. One woman from Honduras, Leida Reyes, told her she thinks this is better than what they lived with back home.She said she couldn't walk around freely without fear, her children never attended school because it was too dangerous.When asked about the President's hard stance on migrants, she said she thinks he'll have a change of heart when he understands they're coming from a country that they can no longer live in safely.Reyes has been in TJ for about 20 days and is waiting for her number to be called so her case for asylum can be processed.No one has stated how long either shelter will be in place. 1418
