(KGTV) — A magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook parts of the Southern Philippines Tuesday morning local time, weeks after another deadly quake struck the region.Tuesday's quake hit just after 9 a.m. on the island of Mindanao near the town of Tulunan in North Cotabato, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.Damages and aftershocks were expected, CNN reported, and several evacuations were reported.The earthquake comes about two weeks after a 6.3-magnitude quake killed seven people and injured dozens in the same town in North Cotabato, CNN reported. 583

(CNN) -- When a World War II veteran turned 99, he had one regret. He had an opportunity earlier in life to meet some of the last living Civil War veterans, but he didn't go.Now 100-year-old Sidney Walton is giving people across the country the chance to meet one of the last living World War II veterans.Walton has been on a mission to visit all 50 states over the past year and a half, and he passed the halfway mark earlier this month. He's made it to 26 states, meeting with governors and anyone who will hear his story.He wants people he meets to remember the sacrifice World War II veterans made, especially as there aren't many left. He decided to leave his home in San Diego and meet with governors of each state as a way to reach a large number of people.He first met with Rhode Island Gov. Robert Flaxman admitted in a Boston courtroom he agreed to pay Rick Singer, the head of a college admissions company, ,000 to partake in the college entrance exam cheating scheme for his daughter. Flaxman’s daughter, who was accepted to USD but did not attend, had a proctor to boost her ACT scores, prosecutors said. (KGTV) - A baby badger, once lethargic and in need of care, is recovering after treatment at the San Diego Humane Society’s Project Wildlife Center. The Department of Animal Services got a call Thursday about the badger in the Jewel Valley section of Boulevard in East San Diego County. The caller told animal experts the badger had not moved all day. An animal control officer responded to the scene and found the badger to be lethargic. The officer took the animal to the Humane Society facility on Gaines Street in Mission Valley for treatment. Veterinarians are bottle-feeding the badger, which weighs about two pounds, according to animal care expert Lauren DuBois. When the badger reaches adulthood, its diet will consist of small animals including ground squirrels and pocket gophers. DuBois said the badger will possibly be released to Fund for Animals in Ramona. Badgers can be aggressive and require ample space, according to DuBois. By Friday morning, Dan DeSousa, Director of Animal Services reported “the badger is doing well and is feisty.” Badgers, though rarely seen in San Diego, are native to the area, according to wildlife experts. “In my thirty years with Animal Services here in San Diego County, this is the first badger that our Department has ever encountered” said DeSousa. “We are thankful to have Project Wildlife here in our community to provide the needed care for these animals in their time of need.” Anyone who encounters a wild animal in distress can call 619-299-7012 to report the matter. 1532
