A man in Florida called police while Collier County Sheriff's deputies were chasing him Tuesday morning.The sheriff's office report said it all started because the suspect acted suspiciously. The sheriff's deputy went up to the car and smelled a smell similar to marijuana.The deputy spotted a baggie that contained a green leafy substance. The suspect then grabbed the bag, put it in his mouth, and sped away."I need help, please," said Aric Frydberg, the man who was arrested after the 7-mile pursuit on U.S. 41. "There's a police officer chasing me," he added.Fort Myers-based WFTX obtained the 911 call. The operator tried numerous times to get Frydberg to pull over.But during the phone call, Frydberg tried to get the operator to make some calls on his behalf. The first set of calls was to his parents."Call my mom, call my mom," said Frydberg. "Please call my mom," he added while on the phone.Then he took it a step further and wanted to speak to the president.  "Donald Trump is a close friend of mine," said Frydberg. "We made a deal," he added while he was trying to convince the operator.Frydberg then changed gears and tried a different strategy.  "My mom called me and said she was in a car accident in Homestead," he said. "My flesh and blood was in a car accident and I have to stop and help you," Frydberg added.Deputies eventually got him off the road and phone.The report goes on to say the deputies searched the car and found glass pipes with burnt leafy residue on them. They later field tested the particles and it tested positive for marijuana.Frydberg is being charged with tampering with evidence, resisting an officer, and two counts of battery of an officer. 1744

After a nearly five-hour delay, the prosecution in Paul Manafort's trial called its first witness of the day on Friday afternoon, with the lengthy delay still unexplained in the courtroom.Judge T.S. Ellis returned to the courtroom at 2:22 p.m. ET, more than a half hour after they were scheduled to reconvene. The court then recessed for nearly an hour, before the lawyers and judge returned to the courtroom.Ellis brought the 16 jurors in, stressed to them the importance of not discussing the case and told them to "keep an open mind." He also said the court plans to "continue with evidence" presentations in the afternoon and that he would "expect to make progress."Prosecutors had intended to rest their case on Friday, although that may not happen now with the delay. They expect to call a pair of banking witnesses who were granted immunity to testify and an employee for the New York Yankees.Manafort's case is the first that special counsel Robert Mueller's team has brought to trial, charging Manafort with 18 tax and banking crimes. (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is looking for the people responsible for breaking into the Children's Nature Retreat in Alpine and setting several animals loose.The break-in happened between Saturday night and early morning hours of Sunday morning, according to Anges Barrelet, the CEO of the Children's Nature Retreat Foundation.The non-profit houses farm livestock, as well as exotic animals.Barrelet says the intruders didn’t steal anything but cut open two enclosures. There are more than a 130 animals in the roughly 20 acres property, and they set more than a dozen animals loose.Some of them were injured by cages on the way out, getting cuts and scrapes, but the staff was able to put them all back into their enclosures.None of the animals escaped the perimeter fencing."It's completely ridiculous, and it's awful,” Barrelet said. "They put those animals in danger."The enclosures have been temporarily patched up, but Barrelet says they had to close to the public for a few days until the fences can be properly repaired. She says it’s just not safe to have visitors at the park until the barriers can be fixed.The Children's Nature Retreat hopes to reopen next week. 1213
